Hello,

I have a problem with excessive bleeding during and after surgeries. In 2003 before I was dx with lupus I had a hysterectomy and in 2004 I had an appendectomy and with both surgeries the doctors said that I bleed alot. My GP wanted to run some tests o me but I lost my health insurance and never had it done. Could this problem have anything to do with the Lupus?

I've never heard of lupus itself causing excess bleeding. But, I do know some of the medications we are commonly prescribed can cause slower clotting!! I'd be more suspicious of the meds than the lupus.

Meds can do it, or you may have another blood issue (hemophilia, etc.) that is the cause.
