I woke up this morning with a cold. The printout for my pred prescription says that if I should develop a fever, cold or infection that I should contact my physician. Has anyone had to deal with pred & colds? Will it take longer for me to get rid of my cold? Is my dr. going to take me off the pred while I have a cold?

Good questions.  Sorry you have a cold.... That stinks.  Well, it might take a while longer to get over it, but it might not.  Sort of depends on the individual.  I highly doubt they'll take you off your pred.  I'd expect your doctor to run a few tests to make sure it's not bacterial in any way.  Hopefully it's just a virus.  Do you have any swollen lymph nodes?  Do you have a history of strep throat or pneumonia?  I'd contact them and get in to see them.  They'll know exactly what to do and help you to keep it as a cold only, and not progress into something more serious, like bronchitis.

Hi Gidget, I hope you call your doctor this morning and report what is going on with you. You know pred. does lower your ability to fight off infections so you need to try (although pretty hard to do) is not be around sick people. Than again maybe you are having a reaction to the steroids. How long have you been taking them? With the weather changing I wouldn't be surprised if most of us get a cold or flu. Have you gotten a shot yet? I just got my flu shot yesterday and I already had my Pnemonia shot. It won't stop me from getting it it will just make it so it's not as bad. (so they say anyway).
Like Ginny said you need to discuss it with your doctor and stop it from turning into somthing worse.

I never get a simple cold ... I went to the dr this morning and I have a sinus infection, bronchitis and an ear infection. Dr thinks that we've caught it in time so it won't go to pneumonia. I can continue taking the pred as well as all the other scripts I was given. I feel like death warmed over, the pressure is so bad in my head and I'm so tired but I haven't slept in over 36 hours. It's bad when you feel so crummy you can't fall asleep lol I really tried not to be around sick people but the girl at the deli swore it was allergies and boom three days later I'm sick. I knew I should have passed on that lunchmeat!

Oh Gidget, that is really too bad.  I can't believe you have all of that to deal with.  That's brutal.  well, at least you got to the doctor before it became pneumonia.  Get lots of rest, drink lots of water.  Some of Rosie's tea is always a good remedy!!
