Muscle rub?

Hi Carol, Capsasian Cream . . . is sold under different brand names. I think one is called Arthritus Rub. It has no odor . . . BUT if your skin is sensitive or broken, don't use it. It can cause some mild to moderate burning. It works by bringing blood flow to the area. It is actually derived from hot peppers. I also use a tennis ball. You can lean against a wall and then drop the ball behind your shoulders and by leaning and moving against the ball, you will give yourself a massage. I accidentally discovered that wearing a light-weight (5-10lbs) back-pack around the house for about 20 minutes will help A LOT for my type of pain. One exercise that I do daily (from PT) is to stand in a doorway (between rooms is good because there won't be a door in the way), both feet right in the center and facing as though you were walking through the opening . . . put both hands on the door frame . . . one on each side of you, about the height of your ears. Leave your hands and your forearms on the door frame and take a small step forward, keeping your posture straight . . . until you feel a gentle stretch in the top of your chest. Hold for 20 seconds, then release. Repeat 3 times. Often your neck/shoulders hurt because the muscles from your shoulders that go down the FRONT of your chest are tight, which pulls on the back muscles and stretches them out.
