Had my echo done today.

I do have some fluid built up around my heart. The guy doing it said everyone has it but mine is alittle above average. He was gonna wait and see what his boss had to say so I'll know monday I guess. I got my blood work back today. My ANA went down from 1:2560 to 1:1280. and still nucleolar. the only things that were off were my globulin whatever that is it was low and my albumin/globulin which was high and my protein was low. again I have no idea what that means. She did say that no tests for cirrosis were off so I don't know where I go from here.

Sorry to hear about your heart. I hope they can do something about it to get it back to normal. Wow, your ANA is really high. The globulin and albumin are proteins and for some reason, its sounds like you aren't producing or just don't have as much as the test says you should. The link below explains. It may be the liver or kidneys? Well its good your tests for cirrhosis were ok, I think they look at Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and GGOT and SGOT and other liver panel. Albumin is a protein produced by the liver and they usually test that too. The ALP is the one that is the worst one to get elevated of the liver panel ones because it can be a sign of liver cancer. My other ones go up and down all the time.

It sounds from the link above like they will probably have to do more tests to figure out why the proteins are messed up maybe. I hope that you continue to do well and stay relatively healthy and that they get you treated for your liver soon, if they havent' already. It's funny, I have anticardiolipin antibodies and had heart problems and don't have other antibodies that other people with AI disease usually have, then I have them to my endocrine system. Anyway, I hope that you feel better and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Have they put you on a special diet? You may want to talk to them to see if there is anything dietary you can do to help your liver, since it is so involved in digestion. Let me know what happens.

I don't know about those other tests now, but I do know that fluid around your heart isn't good.  Hopefully they can treat it before it becomes worse.  A low sodium diet is a good thing for the heart, (not really fun for us) but it helps with fluid retenion.  If they caught it early on that you should be ok from it.  I hope they can figure out what is going on with the rest!  I know how frustrating it is when you just want to know what is going on and can't get it treated unless they can find the exact cause, it sux!! Good Luck.

Carol, I'm really sorry to hear about the fluid around your heart and it stinks that you have to wait until next week to hear more about what all of your tests mean. Hi Carol,

 

I wish I had some advice or ideas for you about your test results.  I just don't know enough about them.  I'm sorry you have a heart issue to deal with.  I can relate in some sense.  I have mildly inflamed heart valve.  So I get Echos every year.  Please let us know what the "boss man" says on Monday okay.

Marji, that was one thing I didn't understand is that my phos were too low the last time I had a test done. thank you for the links I'll check them out.
Mandy you seem to be fitting in quiet well with the family here. LOL your right it sux. I'm already on meds to reduce the fluid but it may not be working anymore. :(
Thanks Hippi, I'm gonna try to look at it like they had yesterday aand today and I havn't heard anything. So like when my son was in Iraq I'll stick with "no news is good news" Keeping me in your prayers is the best medicine there is. Thank you. Ginny lol yeah I couldn't remember what they call the person that reads the test so I just said boss LOL. Sorry you have to go through those stupid tests. Hope they at least warm up all that yucky jel before they put it all over you. All though I can't remember the last time I was in the room with a man rubbing anything on my chest. (sorry couldn't help myself)

Carol, I'm still around just don't post much. Right now I am fighting a cold and it's kicking my butt! I feel like I have been run down by an ole mack truck! I am still in a flare and the past month has been pretty hard on me, the fatigue has been bad, the joint pain is killing me and of course the GI problems have reared it's ugly head too. Hi Carol:

I've been gone for a week and I'm just getting caught up. If the fluid around your heart is related to percarditis, there are two ways to treat it. With high doses of steroids or they can put in a window into the percardium (that's the lining around your heart) and put a hole in it it will drain the fluid out. Usually, fluid around the heart is know as a pericardial effusion. I've had 3 of them. Mine have all been treated with pred. If I can be of any help give me a holler.
