Muscle relaxers?

Hi Carol, Yup . . . I would have guessed fibro too. I really think that's why the electric blanket helps pain for so many people . . . it is very relaxing and gives your body a chance to just relax. Be careful if you are prone to falling though. It could be just enough to keep you from righting yourself in a near fall. Blessings!

Oh Carol, I couldn't live without my Flexeril. I only take 2 at night and it helps me from being so stiff in the morning and helps me sleep. My rheumy has suspected Fibro too but I hasn't confirmed that dx. I do have most of the pressure points, so who knows.

Redrose, yeah I wouldn't tell her. In fact I wouldn't have taken it except that I've taken it before when I had a root canal done. Other than that I was disperate. I just couldn't take it anymore. All the doctor was doing was increased my pain meds and that wasn't helping. I actually was on skelaxin before but it didn't even touch the pain. Strange how different things help different people.

I've had two neck surgeries and need more and my spine is bad. Every MRI and xray showed only mild bulging of disks in the lumbar and I was told to just learn to live with it, it was very mild nothing really. Meanwhile, I'm in pain, all my muscles throughout my body were rock hard, sleep was miserable. Up until 4 years ago, when I went to pain mgt. because I was going nuts and allergic to all the psychiatric and muscle relaxers they gave me due to my liver--I developed an allergy to flexeril as my liver disease progressed and I kept taking it, same with skelaxin--that was a nightmare because it is stronger. Anyway, I was sure there was something wrong and my pain mgt doc said there was only one real way that they could tell if there were any pinched nerves or anything and that was by myelogram. Well, I had compression in my neck bad, the insides of the vertebrae were closed in, osteophytes (bone spurs) and every other thing imagineable. Since that myelogram, done at the same facility where my MRIs were done, every MRI now shows all the problems that were in the myelogram. I guess what I'm trying to say is that most people have negative MRIs and cat scans for their backs but later find that the problems either didn't show up, the quality of the image was poor, or they were overlooked somehow. After my first surgery, the doc told my family that I must have been in excruciating pain. Duh.

Well, I'm glad the flexeril works but be careful to take the lowest dose possible and liver compromised people usually take a half dose of a lot of meds or don't take them as frequently to avoid them backing up in your system after a couple of months and causing an allergy. I don't know how many good drugs I'm allergic to now because the docs wouldn't listen and prescribe a low enough dose. I always throw my back out on muscle relaxers anyway unless I stay flat.

Here I am babbling. I'm so glad they worked for you and may be just the right thing for you. Just be careful on the liver side, try to use somewhat sparingly if you are prone to allergies.
