I'd like to hear what members think about this...

I am 52, post menopausal. It's been 2 years since my last memes. I have not taken hormone replacement.  I started Mepron/Zithro 4 weeks ago, I've been taking probiotics but still developed a vaginal yeast infection.  Took 2 tables of Diflucan and yeast cleared up.

Now, 6 days later I'm having vaginal bleeding.  I'm wondering if it's because the Mepron/Zithro was affecting my hormones, OR if the yeast infection caused the vaginal wall to become irritated and that's what is causing the bleeding, or if I need HRT.

I know that babesia especially causes problems with hormones and in fact I have never been able to conceive due to infertility with lymes and babs, so all this just makes we wonder what's going on now.

Any ideas?

I would not suggest HRT to anyone. At age 52 I was put on HRT because of breakthrough bleeding. Doctors thought that it would help. I was under a lot of stress at the time and believe that was the cause. Stress can do many things to your body. At age 54 I was dxd with breast cancer. Tumor showed it was estrogen positive (cancer was caused by estrogen replacement). No family history of breast cancer. I think you need to talk to your doctor and between the two of you, you can decide what to do. Antibiotic and stress could be the cause of your problem. Heavens knows Lyme is a very stressful disease. Good Luck, Bev

Masonsmom- I have always steered away from HRT because of exactly what you mentioned. I go in to see my GP doc next week, so I'll ask her.
I am already anemic and I can't afford any more blood loss as it is.

Parasitic organisms -- including Lyme, Babs, etc. -- are known to mess with hormone recepters, according to the parasite expert I have talked with. So the spotting could be part of a herx, too. If they want you to take hormones, I wouldn't. You might want to try Iron + Herbs from Floradix - it's a good iron supplement to take (its pretty gentle on the stomach, too) to help offset the iron lost from spotting.

THE LYME MADE MY HORMONES GO CRAZY. My breast are so sensitive I can barely wear a bra. It is like they were when I was breast feeding. It is really hard for women going through menopause more than anyone. The lyme hits this age group the worst. It seems to thrive on hormones. My periods are beyond now. I can't leave the house for about 3 days. Or else. Once you get a handle on your lyme this will all go away.

What's crazy is that last week while I was herxing so bad I notice the symptoms of PMS and after 2 years of being post menopausal , I thought NO way.  But Yes Way!!!
