Successful bartonella treatment

Has anyone had any success treating bart?? I have bart and I believe it is causing me some major problems. I bought Dr. Schallers bart book and figured out I have had several bart rashes over the years that come and go. I have been on zith for over 6 months and the bart symtpoms got better, but now I am rifing and the bart symptoms are back.

Schallers book says rifing doesn't work for bart, and I guess I believe it. His book doens't really offer any treatments that he considers successful which is really frustrating. The best treatment seems to be HH capsules, so I may try that.

I had hoped not to ever be on antibiotics again!! But I guess if I have to, I will.

I took them all at once. Roxithomycin and Tetracycline are rather easy on the liver. Biaxin and bactrim can cause some liver stress but only in rare cases. Just check your liver function while on treatment to know for sure.

HH capsules are rumored to work but i'm yet to hear great success stories. Some say they help but it may be too early to tell.

I have had success treating Bart using Levaquin and Zithromax. Some LLMD's don't like to combine these drugs, but my LLMD does. I haven't had a problem with this combo and have been taking it for 7 months now (pulsed schedule...I only take antibiotics 3 days a week for 2 weeks, then I take nothing for 3 weeks, then repeat).

I've been pulsing these two drugs the entire time I have taken them. My LLMD pulses all the drugs he prescribes. In addition, I take Omnicef and add Flagyl the last 2 days of my cycle. His theory is that the stopping and starting antibiotics will trigger the immune system enough times to create a permanent "surveillance" of the microbes.

Try Dr. Z's protocol...its a combo of things that includes the HH capsules---it worked wonders for my Bart....in fact I was off abx for almost 6 months and felt great while on Dr. Z's protocol...until I got a new tick bite a couple of weeks ago and had to go back on abx (deoxycycline)...bummer...but I am still taking Dr. Z's protocol along with the deoxy.

It truly works...at least it did for me.

How exactly are these pulsed? Do you take them both for 2 weeks then nothing for 2 weeks???

I have considered the HH and may try them, but others haven 't had much sucess with it.

Dr. Burrescano recommends Levaquin for bart treatment. In a lecture I attended in Sept, he mentioned adding another drug with it, but I can't recall which class of drugs he said worked best with it. You can find his slides on lymepa.org. He mentions the bart treatment there.

Azithromycin and Levaquin is a very slippery slope. Both have potential cardio toxic side effects and if you experience these effects, the results are not good. A small percentage of Caucasians have a high risk for these effects.

ronaldj, what type of rashes did you have? I do not have the rash that looks like scratches. Mine looks more like poison ivy and is extemely itchy. My doc said it was Bart.

What do your rashes look like? Mine do not look like the cat scratches. They look more like tiny, raised, red bumps that are itchy.

Rifampin is great stuff for suppressing the Bart. I know its working because without it, I have severe mood/anger issues and I feel like a grumpy werewolf! hahaha

toridemi - I use to also get weird skin issues.... subsurface pimples that werent really pimples, but you could feel them, etc

Oh and also was getting a pop sensation like a short circuit in my lower legs like shin areas and usually tender near the ankle bone on right leg which used to have a large bump in underneath.
