PET scan

Has anyone had a PET scan? My insurance company won't pay for it. One doctor said it is experimental. It's supposed to show blood flow to all areas of the brain.

I had a PET CT scan, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing. Mine was to check out my lymph nodes, since I have cutaneous lymphoma. And I don't think that test was experimental. Sounds like it might be a different test.

Hi,
A PET scan looks at metabolic function more indepth. IT is expensive.

A SPECT scan shows blood flow

I recently heard about a MRA scan too.

MRI looks at anatomy.

Barb is correct, they have you do SPECT at the clinic. Somehow it shows the level of neru-toxicity, mine was downright scarey...
