 First i would like to say thanks to Judy3 for her help. and hello to all .My mum has had two positive blood tests done and three weeks of antibiotics, the Doctors are not convinsed its lyme they say my mum is a mystery. one DR out of four said she should have the antibiotics i dont think she has to get any more. Her next hospital appointment is the 12th of Jan. WE NEED TO FIND A LYME DR

IF ANYONE CAN HELP WE LIVE IN GLASGOW SCOTLAND UK. sad

As far as I am aware there are only three Lyme literate doctors in the whole of the UK, all private - one in Cardiff, one in Hemel Hempstead and one in Manchester - the latter I use because he will test by post and offers telephone appointments.

Please join the EuroLyme board so that someone can email you privately - we do not use LLDs' full names on message boards as they are harassed by the medical authorities.

I am so sorry you have been ill for all that time, and only just found out you have lyme.
How did they find out you had lyme ? and what are they doing about it.
does this diagnoses of Lyme mean you dont have M.E. CFS & FIBROMYALGIA ALL THOSE YEARS
THANKS FOR THE INFO WE ARE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL ON THE 12TH OF JAN I WILL ASK THEM TO PUT ME ONTO AN LLD

You will be very lucky to receive any treatment at all on the NHS. If your test by any miracle comes back positive (my NHS test didn't) you will receive 3 or 4 weeks antibiotics & then be told you are cured - you won't be. If you think you have Lyme you will have to go private for effective testing & treatment.

I found out from live blood microscopy (Dr AW sent me a thumb prick blood test to post back to him) that I have borrelia etc., but my GP won't even discuss this with me. My fibro specialist is refusing to see me again because of this 'Lyme nonsense.'

My 'official' diagnosis is still M.E. & fibro & all I'm being offered on the NHS is graded exercise and cognitive behaviour therapy. It's absolute madness. The NHS will treat the similar spirochaete infection syphilis, but not Lyme.

SMIFFY51 JUST AS YOU SAID MY MUMS  BLOOD TEST CAME BACK POSITIVE AND SHE  RECEIVED THREE WEEKS OF ANTIBIOTICS, WE HAVE A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT ON THE 12TH OF JAN, I WILL ASK IF THERE IS A LLD DR AT THE CLINIC WHICH I DOUBT. THE CLINIC IS FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES.  MY MUM IS WALKING AGAIN WITH A  STICK BUT SHE HAS VERY TIGHT MUSCLE CRAMPS FROM MY FEET TO MY HANDS SHE IS TAKING BACLOFEN AND DIAZIPAM AND FINDS IT HELPS. I THINK ITS ODD THAT MOST DOCTORS DISMISS THE IDEA OF LYME.

SO HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO TAKE ANTIBIOTICS AND HOW DO THE DOCS KNOW YOU ARE CURED

YOU MUST HAVE HAD AN IDEA YOU HAD LYME DID YOU HAVE TO SEARCH FOR A LLD I HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT

How are you doing smithy and cha cha how is your mum?
Was your mum at gartvnavel brownlee infectious disease unit? in Glasgow
I live in north Ayrshire Irvine
iv had lymes disease since 2006. I did not no until 2010 I had 3 past western blott lymes positves serology tests taken late 2006 2008 2009 . like you smithy I was given a ME diagnosis in 2008 . By neurologist and infectious diseases concultant at cross house hospital Kilmarnock
However this was only because they both thought my lymes diseae tests were negative
I was not given a lymes diagnosis when a neurologist uncovered theee hidden positves.
I was given 100mg doxy for 28 days, retested still positive but doxy was not continued
I continued to decline losing my mobility im using a wheelchair now. I have had several private positive tests for tick diseases. the nhs refuse to treat these.
CHA CHA how is your mums mobility? I hope shes improved
I hope you don't mind my emailing,as I did a search on this site to see if any ones from Scotland
Can you tell me SMITHY WHO WAS IT YOU POSTED BLOOD TO FOR TESTING? DID YOU HAVE OTHER TICK DISEASES TESTED FOR? IF SO WHAT WAS THE COSTS?
I am looking for a back up incase I cthe doctor I have been given name of from very kind member.will not skype me.
please contact me how you both are?and who you are seeing now?

ScottishLymielady, This thread is very old- 7 yrs old and we haven't seen these members around in a long time either. While it's always a possibility that they may still monitor this site, they likely aren't. I just wanted to let you know so that you aren't sorely disappointed when they don't answer.

Maybe there non coming back means they are recovered
Glasgow if half hour drive from my location where these 2 posters are
and I think they were at same nhs infectious diseae clinic I was at also
