Jaw muscles, ear ringing & pain

I believe the muscles in my jaw have slackened and it feels like my jaw has dropped. There is also a significant amount of ringing in my ear along with pain.
It occurred to me that if an x-ray of my bite was taken, it could be compared to a previous dental one and show any change.
Has anyone had similar issues and ever had an x-ray taken?

I would guess you have TMJ. I have had this condition for MANY years, never knowing that it was a classic Lyme symptom. I have all of the above, pain , ringing and my jaw actually drops back. If you look at your mouth sideways in a mirror your bottom jaw is normally pulled back with TMJ.   I wore an appliance for years but I do believe I got little relief because the lyme was causing it all. Do you hear a loud click if you move your bottom jaw back and forth?  D

Yes, there is a clicking. My jaw does feel the same way as you described.
I ask about x-rays because my tests come back negative and since none of my symptoms are visible doctors have told me that it's all from depression.
There are just too many Lyme symptoms, including a bulls eye rash years ago. It's hard to convince anyone and I thought comparing x-rays might show some actual physical proof that something is happening. I guess it would be partly for me too - keep me from getting discouraged.

You need to see a dentist for TMJ, not a doctor. Maybe google it (Transmandibular Joint) and see if you can locate a dentist that treats it. Doctors will not help. The clicking sound is from the joint going out of socket, not unlike a dislocated shoulder, for example. It can become very painful and I would have it checked out.  Good luck- D

It would probably help greatly to see a LLMD, too....they would believe you. Too many regular dr.'s tell us it's depression. Maybe that's part of it, but such a small part and Lyme disease is a very good reason to be depressed.
