I am starting my 9th week on Bicillin. Honestly, I had more improvement on 40 days of oral ceftin then all 9 weeks of bicillin. I have felt bad on bicillin and haven't had a single day of feeling better in the past 8 weeks. I'm trying to stick it out as I have read from other users that it takes 3 -5 months to see improvement. I had a nurse for my first 6 shots and she trained my wife.
The shots are not painful, but they do ache a day or two afterward because the needle is so large and the bicillin is so thick. A couple of tips:
1. Ice the injection area for about 4-5 minutes before the shot. I never feel the shot when I do this.
2. Take the bicillin out of the fridge about an hour before the shot and put the syringe under your armpit to warm up the bicillin...it is really, really thick.
3. Inject the bicillin VERY slowly. If you don't you will end up with huge bruises. I'd say an injection should take atleast between 45-60 seconds.
Good Luck! (Its not as bad as my post may make it seem like.)
