I have had serious fatigue ever since I contracted lyme disease. It's very debilitating. I can't work or attend a majority of my classes, or stay awake to study. My doctor said all i needed to do was exercise but it wasn't working and now she tells me it will just go away in time, but it's been 6 months. Does anyone have any advice?

Are you still on treatment? I would suggest you still have lyme and need to be treated further. Fatigue was my most debilitating symptom also, even though several doctors assured me that I was better and had treated the lyme sufficiently. When I started taking antibiotics again, the fatigue immediately started to lift. Many lyme docs actually say exercise can make it worse, because your body is sick and really NEEDS that rest.
Have you read the sticky thread here titled "The Basics" (near the top of the main page for the lyme forum)? If you're relatively new to lyme disease, it will tell you a lot of useful information, particularly about
lengths of treatment and how to find a doctor who can test you more and figure out if you still have lyme.

My doctor says i've recieved the maximum recommended treatment for lyme. I had 30 days of doxycyclene and when that didn't work I received 4 weeks of IV antibiotics. All my symptoms have gone away except for the fatigue.

I have found a product that is really helping me with fatigue. My LLMD knows I am taking these and is looking at implementing these into his practice. My chiropractors also love these products.
Many LLMD’s give glutathione in IV and shots. These are expensive and only stay in your system I believe up to 72 hours. MAX GXL is a glutathione accelerator, not a glutathione supplement. It’s the three building block amnio acids that get intracellular and get your body to create it’s own glutathione. Because it's intracellular, it does not become its own free radical as other antioxidants do. There is also a double blind placebo controlled study that has been done on MAX GXL which is really unusual for health supplements.
They are ordered through direct sales. Dr. Keller invented this product for his very sick patients. He has been very involved with HIV and other chronic illnesses. He saw results. The formulator Dr. Keller was voted one of the 21st Centuries top 2000 scientists.
IF you go to http://www.maxgxl.com/165768 at the top there is a link that says MAX videos – if you click on those Dr. Keller who spent 10 years formulating MAX GXL explains the product. The recommended dose is 2 packages a day (6 pills) but chronically ill patients tend to have lower glutathione levels. Sometimes I take 3 packs a day and that is fine.
This is one of the only health supplements in history to receive a compositional patent which is usually only given to pharmaceutical companies (the patent is on the ingredients and delivery system). It is also the only health supplement that can be quantified and verified with a blood test. I love the science behind this product.
I am working with this company and am putting a business plan together to have them add Lyme Disease Research as part of their charitable foundations. That is my prayer and I believe it will happen. Currently proceeds from every box go towards medicine for HIV which Dr. Keller also invented and they are giving to people in Tanzania.
These products have been a real blessing to our family as with 4 of us being treated for Lyme and co-infections and all taking supplements, we have been able to reduce our costs quite a bit by switching some of these to MAX. I have noticed an increase in energy, a deeper sleep at night and I am able to focus better during the day.
If you're interested I can send you copies of the nutrition label to check out.

Fatigue is one of the top symptoms for Lyme. I have been treated for 2 1/2 years. Usually people that are sick with Lyme are treated longer than 8 weeks unless you were treated RIGHT away. There is currently no maximum treatment for Lyme as this disease affects people differently.

i guess my problem is i live in texas and can't find an LLMD, or anyone who will listen to me. It took me a month to find someone that would believe me that the very distinctive bulls eye rash on my back was lyme and not a spider bite. My doctor says she's following strict protocol from the American infectious disease society..or whatever. i really dont know what to do.

I am also in Texas and was told there are no LLMDs here. The local support group told me they travel to Louisiana to see a LLMD there. So, as far as I know. no LLMDs here. IF you find one, please let me know. Thanks D

The fatigue is very difficult, but I realized that I developed diabetes while sick from Lyme Disease and went on a low carb diet, the day I cut out carbs I felt 1/2 my lyme disease disappeared

To everyone from Texas. If you need information on the doctor in Louisiana, email me. He is currently my doctor.
