Hello everyone,
I am curious to know how Lyme breast pain is described by others who might experience it. I also wonder if anyone has had this as a sypmtom of yeast overgrowth in the absence of vaginal yeast infection.
If this is a true Lyme symptom for me it has been very intermittent. I had a mamogram back in 2000 for unusual and severe breast pain. I can't recall how this pain really felt I just remember it was unlike the normal cycle pains I feel and persistent and severe enough to bring me in.
Prior to my Lyme diagnosis I had unusual breast pain in February 2008 that intermittently included the feeling of "let down" when nursing a baby. This pain lasted about a week and went away so I never went to the doctor. At this time I was also able to express milk.
Now for just over a month I have had a very unusual breast pain. It started shortly after taking the drug Tindimax (cyst buster) for Lyme treatment. I was sitting one night and had a very sharp electric shock type of pain on my left breast but closer to my breast bone. The next day the same area was tender and sore. Enough that my husband became concerned that it might have something to do with my HOHN catheter (even though this was placed above my right breast) I went in to the doctor concerned about the catheter. They did and x-ray to confirm that was fine and because it was on my left side did a complete cardiac work up. All was clear.
The pain then seemed to move to the area just above and behind my nipple. Since then, this has been a constant pain that I can describe as a bruise like pain. It was strong enough that it would be the first thing I would feel when I woke up in the morning. On 2 occasions in this past month I have been able to express milk from this breast as well. My doctor ordered a mamogram which was clear and followed up with an ultrasound which was also clear. At this point I have a referral to see a surgeon and I am trying to decide if I want to follow through with this...
During this time my IV treatment ended. I felt within 2 days that the pain had improved. It was masked for a few days by normal cycle pains. At this point I can still feel it with manipulation but it is very much improved. I do not feel it first thing in the morning. This is when I got to wondering if there is any chance that this could have to do with yeast from my long treatment protocol.
Has anyone else experienced this with Lyme or it's treatment? I am curious how one with Lyme breast pain describes this pain as well.
I appreciate any advice or information offered. Thank you for your time!
