Does everyone who has Lyme and CoInfections have to go on Flagyl at some point? Or can you stay in remission without ever taking it?

Hi Maria.  Flagyl is used to treat the cyst form of Lyme.  From what I understand, it needs to be taken in conjunction with another antibiotic.  I took Tinidazole which is similar to Flagyl but is supposed to be easier to tolerate.

I guess your doctor would be the one to know if you need to take it or not.

Hi,

I couldn't tolerate Flagyl, so my llmd put me on the antifungal Diflucan 100mg twice a day, which has been shown by a German llmd and others to also kill the cyst form of lyme. It hasn't had near the side effects of Flagyl, if any besides chapped/dry lips, and as an extra benefit it helps with the yeast overgrowth from the abx for lyme and babesia.
