levaquin-tedonitis - help!

I can't type very well so keep this short. Got tendonitis from levaquin and it is really bad now- can't use right arm and cannot sleep because of pain. What to do? I made it worse because it was jerked by by horse when I was riding. It was already bad, got worse and worse over two months, now awful. Has anyone had this from levaquin? Did you get better?

I didnt have that issue with levaquin, but I did have numbness / tingling... Personally, I'm scared of any drug in that family ... I'd get off of it

I definately got severe tendonitis from cipro and levaquin. It happens the 2nd day I try it. Yes the pain will go away eventually unless you ruptured a tendon. I hope you feel better soon. Blessings

I didn`t have tendonitis from the levaquin, but I had it really bad at some time - the only thing that really helped and finally stopped it completely was Rhus toxicodendron (C 5 was the the one I took); if you can get it easily you may give it a try; it is a homeopathic remedy and it did wonders for me;
Razzle mentioned the Ruta Graveolens as being similar; you may want to google them for more info. At least they are safe meds.

The only other thing that brought at least some relieve was a bandage with Ichtholan ( Ichtyolan) - but it smells really awful as this is some kind of tar paste. It was only able to reduce the inflammation and pain somewhat but not more. But everybody is different and different things may help. Maybe you know this from the horses.

May I ask what kind of horses you do have? I am so in love with horses - esp. Mustangs and Appaloosas.

There is a lawsuit out on Levaquin right now regarding tendonitis and ruptures.

I read that tendonitis from that class of abx is due to magnesium deficiency; take magnesium supplements - they may help. I was on Cipro for 6 weeks and did not have any problems with my tendons...I get plenty of magnesium daily.

Also, yes the Ruta Graveolens homeopathy may be helpful. I get mine at a local health food store.

Thanks I am going to google those homeopathic remedies. I am glad to hear it will clear up. I am pretty sure I did not tear anything. I have an appointment tomorrow for ultrasound. It is supposed to increase circulation to the area to help heal.
dorit, I have 8 horses including 4 that are old and/or lame. Most of them are quarter horse types. I trained one of them to go bareback and bridleless with just a rope around his neck. He was supposed to go straight but zigged so I zigged, then he zagged and went over a jump. I held on to the rope with my right arm and hurt it more but I didn't fall. I am trying to do freestyle parelli with him. Too bad I did this - so aggravating. I had to take a pain killer last night and still couldn't sleep.
I am relieved to know this is not permanent. I was so worried. . .but it has been hurting for two months, just not this bad.

I take a lot of magnesium every day - so much that I have loose stools from it.

I got ultrasound today at physical therapy. He also instructed me on how to keep the range of motion going which he said is very helpful to restore function. I use a pully system so that my good arm can help move my other arm. It is already a little better. So I would think if anyone has really sore muscles you need to keep your range of motion going and not over protect yourself making everything just get worse.
