Has any moved because of lyme?

Hi sick-from-tick.  I am sorry you found three ticks on your dog.  Do you treat her with Frontline or a similar product?  Where are you located?  Although there are states with less occurrence of Lyme disease, I believe it is present in every state. 

There are many precautions you can take to reduce the chance of getting bitten:  walk only on wide and/or paved trails and not through brush or tall grass; tuck your shirt into your pants, your pants into your socks, wear a hat; wear repellant on exposed skin and on your clothing; treat your yard; do things to deter deer and rodents from coming into your yard; check carefully for ticks when you come inside; and throw your clothes into a hot dryer for at least 15 minutes (this will kill any ticks, washing them will not).  If you find a tick, remove it with tweezers only and save it for testing.

 

I live in central Wisconsin. Before I was infected I would tell my wife that ticks weren't really a big deal, you just pick them off. Needless to say I feel a bit different about them now.

We use frontline on our dog, so she'll probably be ok. Our fear is that she will bring them into the house.

Yup, I left New England and move to the Southwest where I got Valley Fever. VF is worse than Lyme because it's caused by a fungus you inhale and you can't avoid it unless you stop breathing.

I'm navy brat and have lived in all but 4 states, dont know if any of them are tick free tho. maybe if we lived in bubbles we wouldnt get lymes, but can we call that living?
also wanted to let ya know ticks do fall out of trees onto ya. thats how my sis got her first tick. after that she wouldnt go outside without a hat on for yrs. she was 9 at the time. another good was to keep ticks off you and dogs when outside walking is to use deep woods off, its how i kept them off when in Wi. very heavy in ticks there. as i cant remeber ever getting bit by one when i was there. I have lived in Tx for the last 3 yrs and even here we have ticks. but so far not 1 has bit me or my dogs & cat here. i use Boispot on them it works great.

just remeber if you use anything on your pets to test a small spot on them first to make sure they dont have a reaction to it.

My wife wants to move Denver area. I know all states have it. When I first got sick and started researching lyme I found the map showing concentration in the US and our county has a lot of cases. Our family doctor said it is as common as the flu around here, but won't acknowledge chronic lyme. Not to mention the long winters we have get old.
