I hope at least a couple of you are compling a book, with all the research you have done. You could get rich, ya know. Make a bunch of money and pay all your Dr bills..... what a concept, huh?

Anyway, is it true that the lone star tick does not carry Lyme? I read that it carries STARI, which is similar to Lyme, but does not have the chronic issues of Lyme.  I think this info came from the CDC, amongst others.

As far as I can remember, I found nothing which said the Lone star ticks carry lyme , only STARI. dorit

STARI = a different strain of Lyme. Semantics.

You both made me think.... what about STARI in all the other ticks?? Everything "known" already?

This is a good story about a Dr. in Florida that is trying to prove that the Borellia that causes Lyme does exist in the Lone Star tick. I actually e-mail him when my daughter got a tick bite(we live in Texas). I sent the tick into be tested and I wanted him to review the results of the testing. If I am remembering what he e-mailed correctly, he believes it does exist in the Lone Star tick but he does not have complete evidence to back it up. Anyway, it is nice to know someone in out there working on this.

Yes the Long Star tick carries all of the stuff that all other ticks do.
All he has to do it bite the infected deer.

They have been found all the way up in cape cod. My daughter found one it the kitchen. They are bigger than the tipical salt like size of the tick that got me in MV.
Think that they have a white spot on them if I remember correctly.
But yes....all ticks....fleas, mosquitos, bitting flies...ect...can all carry up to 9 or more infectous disease's at one time.
Isn't that lovely?
