llmd waste of time?

well, i called about 8 "llmd's" and all i get to talk to is some phone lady who says I have to wait 2,3, and 4 weeks to see the dr. I thought lyme was time sensitive and you needed to start treatment right away? Very disappointing that i can't get to see one untill my reg doctors regimine is over. anyone have any tips since i might not be going about this the right way?

zizziz,

make the appiontment and then ask to be placed in there canostions list if your able to go at the drop of a hat. call then eash week to remind them you want anything that opens up. i did this with my neuro. my app was for over a month away but after callling i was in the next day. you have nothing to lose and everything to gian by it. good luck.

Sounds like A LOT of people may have Lyme!  Honestly, I don't think 2 to 4 weeks is that long to wait.... given my experience.  I can't see my new rheumatologist for fybromyalgia until the end of August and I made the appointment a week ago.

There was a 4 month waiting period with my LLMD for my first appointment. I asked to be put on the cancellation list and got in within like 2 weeks. 4 weeks is not too long a wait but I would still ask to be put on the list. Good luck!

While waiting see if your regular doctor will start you on Doxycycline..it is often the first drug used and will get you started and the LLMD will get valuable info about how you feel once you start this.....good luck

i am on doxy, 100mg 2x day. however, from what people have said and what i read, it needs to be more like 400-600mg day and for longer then 30 days, 4-6 weeks. The lab my blood went to did NOT test for any of the co-infections that igenx tests for either.

You could make an appointment with several doctors and ask to be put on each one's cancellations list.  Then you can take the earliest appointment.  If it goes well you can cancel the others.  If it does not go well, you have a back up.  Just be sure to cancel any appointment you do not go to or you may be charged for them.

Maybe you could ask your doctor to extend your Doxy while you are waiting to see a specialist.

Get yourself on a very low fat and low suger diet and no milk. Get immune boosters and huge amounts of supp. with large doses of vit C. No alchol or caffeine. Drink only water and alot of it.
Take probiotics and take your supp. twice a day.
While you have this bacteria in your body, you need to build up your system to be able to kill it itself.
You are on a very low dose of doxy.
I was on 400 for 60 days the day of the bite.
My daugher was put on 1,200 this last summer for 30 days...and she got better by the end. But she weights 44 pounds.
Don't fret, it is easy to get lyme over and over again. Ticks and mosquitos bite us all of the time.
The key it to get your body immune system in tip top shape so that it can effectily kill it when it finds it in your system.
So first.....get as healty as you can. And run to your whole foods store. Or where ever you like to get good advice on supplements.
