G/F dumped me tonight

she said she was confused, and with all of my health concerns she is drained.. i knew it!! together for a year and 1/2 and now this on top of everything else.. I saw this coming to a certain degree, because its hard for anybody to understand this disease, and i kinda fell apart all of a sudden.. Things change, people change, life goes on.. i'm not going to dwell on what could've been or anything.

i'm still going to beat this disease that has taken some things away from me.. But everything happens for a reason.. And maybe once i come out of this disease this will be a blessing in disguise.. I dunno, i'm just trying to stay positive..

I'm sorry that happened to you too. Sometimes, people are just not strong enough to deal with things like this. You will find someone that will care for you and appreciate you for who you are.

James I'm so sorry...I've lost so many people due to this, and I say the same thing as you. Maybe when I come out of it, I can just be that much of a better person.

You're so strong and you're going to be okay! You're great!

James, I am so sorry. You've already proven how strong you are and you'll get through this and go on to find someone who deserves you. Many relationships are draining and you need all the strength and energy you have to fight this darn disease. Hang in there and know that yes we are family.

i told myself, if me and her can come out of this together still, she is the one.. But, this sealed the deal. like i said, i had a feeling since i was sick, and i couldn't find anything positive to talk about, and she is younger than me.. I don't expect her to get it. i don't even get it.

When i had my house and was healthy, she was there.. When i sold my house, then i got sick, she really wasn't there.. this is the way i look at it..

But hey, i still have my dog.. He's never going to leave my side because of this disease.. if anything, he has stuck closer to me in the last couple of months...

Thanks for the support, I'm really not going to be depressed about it.. To be quite honest, this can make some people miserable for weeks, or months.. but i've been through worse and really, i'd rather have my dog and my family around me right now, than some girl that doesn't really care..

james- i'm in the same boat as you right now. my boyfriend broke up with me almost two weeks ago, said he "couldnt handle my circumstances". but like everyone has said, the person who you will be with for the rest of your life and who really loves you will not leave you no matter what. THROUGH SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH!

anyways i know it's hard, but you'll most likely be better off.

That's not odd. I wouldn't take a million dollars for my animals either. They all make me who I am and keep me going. They give me unconditional love even though I haven't felt well enough to play with them. They are always there for us no matter what. And even if we fuss at them for urinating on our new couch, they still love us.

james you have a hreat head on your shoulders i hope you know this. amd yes when all is said and done its her lose not yours. ture love will never leave you no matter who much you have or dont have, be it monies or health. it is the strogest ties that bind.

as for our pets, i am sick and i know i need treatment but i wouldnt trade my babies for my health either.to me there are my kids and last time i looked it was eligal to sell your kids..lol

I am so sorry to read this, James. I know it is difficult when you lose love and more difficult when you lose it to something you cannot battle against like a bad habit, or even another person. It's different because you don't feel they can love you for better or worse, in sickness and in health, because that is what love is about. Love is long-suffering. Love is greatly unconditional. Of course, all this is my opinion, but, like you said, it may be a blessing in disguise...and a dog will always be there by your side. I have two of them myself. Everyday they bring me joy and when I feel as though everyone else is abandoning me emotionally, I know they won't. As you can probably read between the lines in this, my hubby has not always been understanding or compassionate. Nobody in my life has ever been truly understanding or compassionate. It took a letter from my doctor and watching several videos and seeing my mother die, to bring him around.

There is something bigger than having a relationship with someone in your life right now and that is YOU. Love yourself, take care of yourself, be devoted to yourself. Rest, be at peace. There is definitely something to be said for the single life, especially when you are sick.

Like I said, all this is my opinion. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

i wasn't convinced she was the one, until i got this disease.. like i said, i would tell myself these last couple of months, if she can stick this out with me, then i might need to go down the yellow brick road to vegas! LOL.. not really, but you know what i mean.

she was strong with me at first, she prolly thought it was in my head and it was a 2 week flu or something. then as i got a little worse each day, she was prolly thinking i'm crazy or just sick and doesn't want it either..

this is the thing, i really think i've had lyme for a while, maybe a year or more.. but recently got infected again which made it worse, plus running to much weakens your immune system if you OVERTRAIN. which i did..

yes, we did have unprotected intercourse, and i hope she doesn't get it.. how do i tell her to get checked, it will prolly come back neg. I honestly think she really doesn't think i'm sick..


this is my chance to recover fully now, i don't have to balance a relationship/job/bills/doctors/ect. now, i'm cutting the fat off.. speaking of fat, i need to get fat, or put on the weight... lol..

James, Killer, and all of you who have lost people you love/loved because of your disease -- I am very sorry. I think we are learning about how shallow people are anymore.

I do think that even as much as we are suffering -- some more than others -- we have to work very hard at not making our lives so negative. It's especialy difficult, because irritability and negativity are so much a part of this disease.

I have lost many friends simply because I've been so negative, down, and unresponsive. I don't believe these people have turned against me to the point I could not befriend them again. But they have let me fall by the wayside, and frankly, right now, I don't care, except that I know in my heart that I haven't 'been there' for them either, when they may have needed me.

As we struggle along here, we do need to try to imagine what it must be like to be w/ someone who is constantly so negative and tired. It must wear on them after a certain point. No one wants to talk about a disease all the time or constantly hear about how we feel.

I guess the difference between being w/ someone w/ this disease as opposed to some other disease, is that w/ other diseases, a person at least seems to improve, and not malinger like we do. It's easier to stick w/ someone and help them fight, if you are experiencing hope and improvement. Not so w/ Lyme for too many people.

In all my reading about this disease -- I've been reading a lot about the neuro -- and isolation is a part of this disease as well. I have absolutely no desire to do anything w/ anybody. I will do things w/ my kids (grown) when they want to, but I cannot initiate anything.

I constantly lie to get out of invitations. I am doing all I can right now just to work and take care of my dogs. And that's getting difficult. I can't get my own housework done, let alone help anyone w/ anything. I admit I am on the computer too much and it is sapping me, and I suspect the same is true for some of you.

Still, the idea of getting myself together to do anything besides go to work is overwhelming. The very idea of any kind of romance is totally and completely dead in me. I don't have the energy or anything to give anymore.

I am happy for those of you who have understanding and compassionate mates and partners. And I am so sorry for you who have lost -- it seems that no one wants to give anymore, do they?

James, I understand where you are coming from and agree with everything you wrote.

It was harder for me to come to terms with the fact that I will probably need to sell my home to continue treatment to get well than it was to consider doing when my precious cat was sick. I would have done anything and given up everything to save her little life but unfortunately it was not in the cards and I had to put her to sleep. This all happened a year into my disability and losing her was as difficult as losing a family member. I know that shounds terrible but that's how I felt and still feel. She was the sweetest little thing and also had been through so much with me - mom's passing, breakup of engagement, illness, loss of job, etc.

Anyway, enough about me. lol

You are going to go on to recover from this darn illness, get your career back on track, buy another home and find someone worthy of you.

1bitten2xshy, Boy did you sum up what seems to be the hardest thing for me to deal with righ now.

"One of the many things having Lyme teaches us is who our real friends are! I am sure many of us have lost people in our lives that we thought were "good friends".

I'm trying so hard to let it go but can't seem to. Unfortunately, the few who at least try to understand and have really stuck by me either live out of state or hours away. Those who live nearby choose to ignore or not believe how sick I truly am. I get that I don't always look or sound as ill as I feel but do they really believe I would be on daily iv's and need to have a nurse come to the house 2x a week if I was exaggerating?

Hopingtofindacure, Isn't it a shame that our core support group disintegrates and disappears when we need them most.

I keep telling myself that I will try to limit my discussions about Lyme or my illness with those still left in my life but when it's so consuming and there's nothing else, it's difficult. I've been once again on the pity pot about being so alone and often forget that even those with husbands and families still have no one to discuss it with.
