Low grade temp's in the afternoon?

I get this as well. Usually the temp is never above 99.4.

I also have Bart. My doctor has not specifically said what the reason is.

I see him tomorrow and intend to ask, as I have had low fevers for the last 2 weeks.

I can tell when the fever is coming on. I get shaky.

Hi: I am new the site and a new" Lymee" . I was bitten Oct of 08 and was just diagnosed June 4th, after months of Ortho Dr.s who wanted to everything from bi-lateral carpul tunnel release to fusing my C4-C5 vertibrate due to degeneration of my cervical spine that has occurred sometime over the past year. I also, have low grade temps in the afternoons. The backs of my eyes start burning around 4ish and it usually last a few hours. My PA who I see through my LLD said it was normal. It doesn't go over 99.9. It's nice to see post that show some of the same things I am going through. Dr. said at least 6 -12 months before I even begin to feel better :( Prior to Oct 08 I ran 5-8 miles 4-5 days a week with my Labrador "Marlin". Since Thanksgiving it has been one thing after another dealing mostly with bone issues and then the nueropathy kicked in around March. That got my sister's attention (she is an Occupation Therapist) and she took me to my PCP and asked for a series of test, one being Lyme. this is the only one the dr. didn't think we needed to do, because, at the time, I couldn't remember a recent tick bite. My sister demanded it anyway and guess what IGg 4 bands and IgM 2. All of which were in the bands related to Bb and that showed I was in a Chronic Lyme state. Luckily, I have a fantastic support group in all areas of my life, family, friends and work. It turned out that between a co-worker and my Mom we know the co-founders of the NC Lyme Disease Foundation. One phone call go me in the right direction. Even though we have to travel, I have 100% confidence this Dr. and feel confident that I will get back to running again. WOW !! That was a lot of info for a first time poster. had that for 4 months straight before i started treatment. always below normal in the morning, and then every day like clockwork, between 2 and 4 pm id get a fever peaking by about 8 pm between 99.4 and 100 every single day. and then by midnight it was back to normal.

now i very very rarely get fevers. its amazing how similar the patterns are between us lymies.

I have read when you have lyme your temp is usually below normal but when you also have bartonella your temp will be higher in the morning and maybe peak again in the afternoon. With babesia you can get a higher temperature with chills and sweating. It sounds like bart to me.

I have fever in the afternoons as well especially when I'm in a Lyme cycle. My LLMD told me it was Babesia that caused the fevers. I noticed that when I take Mepron for babesia, I start running fevers again. Mine has never gotten over 99.8 but it makes me feel really bad.

FYI to all, Below normal temps can be a symptom of thyroid issues. Lyme caused me to have Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune disease that causes the body to attack it's own thyroid. Lyme confuses the immune system in so many ways this is another way.

All of the thyroid panel tests showed I was in range, however when I finally got to a LLMD he tested the thyroid antibodies and they were high. Not one of the many, many, doctors I went to previously knew to do this. Since being treated with thyroid meds (armour) many of the horrible symptoms that can overlap with lyme went away. Such as rapid pounding heartbeat, severe headaches, cold hands and feet, low morning temperature and more.

One of the things the LLMD had me do was take my temperature first thing in the morning for one week. If it was below normal he said it was most likely thyroid. It is important to have the proper tests for thyroid not simply the usual panel most doctors do
