Yes he did! On the show tonight. The possibility of Letterman having Lyme is something that we all speculated about
on this very forum many times ...
It often appeared to members of this forum that Letterman had a flippant attitude towards Lyme disease in the past; he has made many jokes about
it over the years. He did a skit once involving a fake 'expert' discussing the dangers of ticks and the symptoms of Lyme disease. It caused a lot of controversy.
He was not joking tonight talking about
how sick he has been over the last few days, even saying that it was so bad that it was worse than his quintuple bypass. He said that he wished he had swine flu! Apparently yesterday he had a fever of 103 degrees, "the kind of fever that makes you think you are seeing monkeys" !
This is what he said he was diagnosed with (from Wikipedia):
Anaplasmosis: a disease caused by a rickettsial parasite of ruminants, Anaplasma spp. The organism occurs in the white blood cells and is transmitted by natural means through by a number of haematophagous species of ticks.
He then explained what 'anaplasmosis' was by holding up a card that said 'Tick-borne Illness'.
The only thing is that he received antibiotic treatment and says he feels better than ever within just a day or two ... I suppose we will see how this progresses for him.
I just had to share ...
