I was very lightly browsing various items at Walmart.  Although I have come to the (obvious) conclusion that a 'de-wormer' would not be such a good idea (for babs)

I noticed several 'cleansing' and 'detox' boxed products w/ varying prices.  They were, of course, in w/ the laxatives.  Is that what these products basically are? just laxatives?  or is there more crap in us that needs to be cleaned out, even if we have pooped out everything we've got? (sorry, I know of no other way to put it)

i was very constipated a couple of years ago.. i was told to drink a ton of water and intake alot of fiber.. it worked... i bought some stuff called Benefiber at walmart

Hey Lyme!
Detoxing can be really rough for some. It is my understanding that the more ill you are the rougher it will be. Not terribly encouraging, but detoxing can be essential.

Since I am not under going any tx for my TBI's (can't afford it right now) I stay away from detox products sold in stores - even the health food stores.

I do drink anywhere from 2 - 4 qts fo liquid each day, I stay well hydrated. Mostly I drink pure water & add quite a bit of lemon juice.

I get this kind of 'acidic' taste in my mouth from time to time & water w/ lemon juice seems to be the only thing that helps.

I once tried some detox foot pads & ended up in bed all of the next day with a bad migraine. Then, as if that wan't enough for me to decide I had better wait on serious detoxing,

I felt like I had the flu from H***!! It was pretty rough, so don't take detoxing lightly, please. I view it pretty much the same way I view my 'scripts - supervision in administering recommended.

Of course this whole post is nothing more than my own opinion!! I am not trained in any way in the medical field.

Hi all,

I believe the colon is a very important part of the body to detox, thus I use coffee enema's, yes, sounds gross but it really works as it gets rid of the toxins that stick to the sides of the intestines. 

Also, detoxing through one's largest living organ which is our skin is essential just by doing dry skin brushing every day as well as the detox baths and foot baths.

So there's not only the "inner" detoxing but the outer detoxing as well. 

It has worked for me all these years and I believe it keeps my immune system strong.

Hi Denise,

My husband just had iv picc line put in today and the nurse said we should hold off on detox baths and sauna because the sweating could lead to an infection...he had been doing detox baths every other day before the picc line...he will probably try the detox foot bath now...just wondering if you or anyone else had any experience with detox baths or saunas while a picc line was in place...thanks.

Hi Carol,

I never had a picc line put in when I was in treatment.  Before I knew I had lyme I was going to a holistic center and once a week I had an IV put in that consisted of a anti-viral pack and a vitamin pack, so that's the closest I could come to having a line put in.

I don't understand how sweating could cause an infection, that doesn't make sense to me.  As long as your husband is protecting the area where the IV line is inserted using a cuff, I would think sweating out the toxins is a good thing.   Where is the Picc line inserted?

thanks Frango...think we'll hold off on the sauna for now at least for him...may order it for myself!...
Denise the picc line entry is just above the elbow...don't want to take any chances with an infection as he is expected to be on iv for 6 months...we can try other detoxing ways for now...we did the foot bath last night that i think you bumped up the instructions on for me...thanks.

I agree with Frango on the humaworm suggestion. I use this product at least twice a year and it works well.

Hi tickedoff and everyone else,

As I said, I never had a picc line so I don't know what's really involved with that.  You wouldn't want new bacteria or an added infection added on top of the lyme bacteria!  Oh no!

I don't know about others but whenever I take a detox bath I never once sweated.  The toxins just go into the bath water.    Also, I never used a sauna because I could never afford one.   But from what I hear, a sauna causes one to sweat or its supposed to.

Anyway, let me know how your husband is doing as well as yourself.

Hey, TickedOff, I have a PICC line in my upper arm (between elbow and shoulder). I have a small portable sauna that I got from eBay for about $169.00. It has zippered openings for your arms, and I hang my PICC arm out of that. I talked to my doc yesterday and he said that was great. So, although I'm no doctor, it seems that it should be okay to do that. I have never sweated on that arm or gotten the dressing wet from sweat while doing this. (I put a chair in front of the sauna to rest my arm on).
