I was just diagnosed with chronic lyme with possible co-infections.  

However, I have a question about my fingernails.  Yes, fingernails!

I have had tiny little brown spots on several of my fingernails for about a year.  Could this have anything to do with LD?

Hi LabLady.  I am sorry you have Lyme and possibly co-infections, but it is good you have been diagnosed.  Are you seeing a knowledgeable doctor?  Are you being treated?

I don't know the answer to your question about the spots on your fingernails.  Make sure you show them to your doctor.

Yes, I went for my first visit - see my post on 8/12/09.

We're still waiting (not very patiently) for my blood test results.

I never had brown spots on my fingernails but thy often had white spots. Not sure what it could be.

i dont know about the brown spots but the white ones are do to low calcium. and you can also get them on your teeth too. so maybe you should take supplements for it

When I went to the first LLMD, he gave me a checklist of lyme symptoms and one of them was white spots on nails. I had one of them and it is gone now with antibiotics. Weird huh?

I've never heard of that being a Lyme symptom. But now that you say that, I've had white spots under my nails since I was little. I was told by many doctors that it was calcium deposits. Now that I think about everything, I wonder if my leg and knee pains were Lyme back then?

I remember seeing white spots on your nails being a lyme symptom too. I dont remember what check list it was on. However I was also told by my doctor it was a calcium problem.

White spots under fingernails is a good example.

Looks like we have to try to educate our own doctors when it comes to Lyme, most won't listen mine usually does but not this time.

I was finally diagnosed with Lyme after two hospital stays and discharged with an Rx for Doxyclycline 200 mg bid and told to follow up with my GP when I needed a refill.
When I went to him he said 100 mg bid was enough, wouldn't give in so I just took the Rx, filled it, got on line and ordered more 100mg Doxy, didn't need an Rx.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do when you know you're right.
So if you have white spots and something else is going on think maybe Lyme print out the info and take it to your doc.

I noticed the "half moons" on my fingernails disappeared. I posted this about 1 year ago and others said they too had it!

I read on one of the medical sites (ie. the Mayo Clinic), something about white spots on

your fingernails is a sx of one of the co's. I remember that simply because I have those white spots myself.

Unfortunately, since it was something that I REALLY wanted to hold on to - of course I've lost it!!

I need to try to find where I read that & print it out again. If I can actually accomplish this, I will definitely share it on here.
