Does anyone have vision problems due to Lyme? If so, can you please describe your symptoms, how long it lasted and if you completely recovered.

I feel like my eyes are strained, I get headaches and sometimes conjuctivitis. I have been to the eye dr. 3 times but he finds nothing wrong. This seems to have started around the time the other one did.

I need help!

Hi Sophie, I started having vision problems after I started my meds. They would get blurrly alot, always had to blink. They also seemed a little strained. At one point my vision went to like a grey color, and that was all I could see. It lasted for like 10 sec. then would be fine. I had a feeling it was from my meds, so I have stopped taking them. but I do think you can have problems with vision from Lyme.

My husband has eye issue w/lyme...he has ocular neuritis...inflammation of the optic nerve...very sensitive to light, he actually wears glasses that are given the cataract patients...he also had trouble seeing, thinkng he needed a new prescription...the eye dr. said there was actually just a very slight change in his prescription...he still has these issues but he just started iv med 3 1/2 weeks ago...he had these symptoms before starting any meds...good luck to you

Eye problems started for me before meds, but I was using natural things. My eyes hurt. I cannot read more than a page or so and cannot use the computer more than a few minutes a day. Lyme can affect the nerves around the eyes. Sometimes there is inflammation of the optic nerve, neuritis. My doc just checked me out last week and said there was no inflammation, but I am very uncomfortable.

My eyes were so dry and irritated I had to wear sunglasses in the house. They were raw and very blood shot. I also got constant migraines making light unbearable. I did not realize that this was from bartonella, not lyme. What helped my eyes more than anything is taking hyaluronic acid every day which is collegen. I can't recommend it enough. After just a week of taking 100 mg a day (don't get the kind with chicken sternum or rooster comb) my eyes felt almost normal. If I forget to take it I can feel the difference almost immediately.
A friend told me about HA when it was recommended to her by her homeopathic doctor for dry eyes related to another condition.
