Cleo,

It looks like you're doing pretty good. I'm happy for you. The nurse told me that I couldn't get in my sauna because of the sweating and it maybe causing an infection. I sweat alot already from the co's and the Depo shot I take. Maybe I will just carry a fan everywhere I go, lol.

Since I'm already here, I will respond to the other post about insurance. So you have BCBS too? I hope they cover the Rocephin for me. I'm so nervous about that because I know how bad I truly need that med. Did you meet your deductible for the year? Mine pays 100% after I've met my deductible. I'm not sure about antibiotics though. I guess I will just have to pay out of pocket for the generic if they don't cover it.

I don't remember....was you WB positive or negative? Mine was negative but I had Lyme specific bands. I wonder what the insurance will say about that? Can you tell I'm anxious? Haha!

I also have BCBS. How ironic.
I am looking over my insurance quote for IV abx. It says even before I hit deductible they are going to pay 80 percent. That is what it looks like from the paperwork I have. I have to call and verify this Monday.

I sure hope the best for you and hope yours will cover you. I have read much about BCBS from reading others experiences with it and it seems it can work quite differently in different states.

I have no idea why Medicare will not cover it. I heard too though that if you are willing and can drive to the IV clinic that they might? or do?

Just something to keep in mind. Someone here might have said that I just can not remember right now where I read it. Maybe even this thread.. Probably. ..

I also am worried about the Diagnosis. My other doctor used codes that indicated myalgia and vector borne infections and or chronic pain and such.

Now with new doctor and treatments they are using the lyme coding for the first time. I sure hope it is not or does not become an issue forward. I was going to talk to them about this but I surely can not tell them not to code that way. And I have not had ANY problems all these years with insurance covering anything based on diagnosis.

So I am nervous myself but not much I can do now but go with it and see how it goes. I am afraid to call and ask about it as to point it out??

What do you think? Has anyone just called their insurance and asked them what they will cover for Lyme Disease treatments??

I would weigh the benefit against the risk. Is there any research out there proving it cures it?

If that were me, I would call your new doctor and ask how much success they had with putting in a Lyme diagnosis since insurance companies have been against treating Lyme disease for a long time with IV antibiotics.

I hope it all works out for you too! Let's keep each other updated on our insurances.

Hey, CG, yes, I understand .... my WB had Lyme pos. bands but the overall test was deemed "negative".

I don't remember whether I had met my deductible or not. I haven't gotten a bill from the hospital for the picc placement, either, which was done on June 14. The infusion people said they could put in a picc line, without going to the hospital (which was an outpatient procedure), but my husband wanted me to do it at the hospital instead. The type I had put in, they said could last 6 months or longer.

One thing that we told the BC/BS people and the infusion people was that the diagnosis is "Borreliosis infection." I don't know whether that makes any difference, but my husband thought that it might, so that's the terminology we used. It's an accurate term, but not the most 'common' term.

You'll feel better once you talk to your insurer, I would suspect. I have kept a written log of who I talked to (the person's name) and when; and I keep a rather spotty journal of my symptoms, but just continued documentation that I still DO have symptoms, in case I need to present that to someone later on. Isn't it awful that you have to worry about not only getting well, but whether or not you're going to go broke getting there?
