Hi Jen,
Yes, I tested CDC positive for both lyme and ehrlichiosis after 5 long years of doctor hopping. I actually diagnosed myself after I did so much research because the doctors kept telling me that I had CFS, or I was depressed, but I knew something was really wrong with me.. I was running fevers, had extreme fatigue, my legs hurt so badly, and so much more.
I got to the point where I was so darn frustrated with doctors that I said to myself "hey, if they can't find out what's wrong with me maybe I can, what do I have to lose?" and the research started. Everything pointed to lyme disease, all I needed back then was medical proof which I finally got thanks to an ID doctor who sent my blood to IgeneX. Actually I was relieved to know I had lyme because I finally had a name for what was making me feel so darn sick.
Oh, in answer to your other question, yes, I am fully functional! From not being able to walk I have my legs back (for years now) and they work great! I work part-time, I also teach (computer-related), do aerobic exercising as well as the Jane Fonda exercises (for toning and tightening), hike, my hobbies, and looking to move to Vermont as I own a home and it's just getting too expensive to live here and maintain my house all by myself.
As far as Dr. Jernigan, he treats people with numerous illnesses including lyme, MS, Fibro, etc. He sees people not only in the U.S. but also from Europe as well as people from all over the world. He has treated newborn babies as well.
If you click on this link you will see he mentions MS as well as Lyme:

I really suggest reading this book, knowledge is power, right?
Hope you are having a better day today,
Denise
