Hi ria,
I'm getting the regular flu shot this year. I've been getting them every year for about
five years now.

I'm not getting either. Going to get one or the other will put me into a situation where I could be exposed to it. MY lyme-life keeps me pretty isolated, so I can afford to not get a shot.
There are more & more docs (& not just LLMD'S) feeling less secure about
these shots from what I have read.

Yeah, I hear you Traveler. In my opinion, if you've been getting them every year, then I don't see a problem with it, BUT if you're new to getting it, read everything you can about
the flu shot. Talk to your LLMD about
it too. Weigh the pros and cons.
In my situtation, I was getting the flu really bad every year. I'd have it worse than anyone else and it always lasted longer. Now since I take the flu shot, I've never had the flu or any symptoms from the shot at all.
If you google flu shot and Aids patients, you will find some really intersting information:)

My llmd does not recommend either but I went ahead and got the regular flu vaccine after speaking to him. I've been getting it for many years now and just didn't want to chance getting the flu this year since I have a friend visiting from Florida for the holidays.

CG & Scorpio - those are the right reasons to be getting a flu shot ~ IMHO!!!

i got my reg flue shot 2 weeks ago. i will not get the N1H1 shot tho as its too new. and even in the news here some of the Drs are telling folks not to get it. as there is not enough tril test done on it yet.
only 600 test on kids for the N1H1. not good if you ask me.
it was also stated that if you get the flue here it is 90% sure its the N1H1 flue. Tx has been hit hard with it. so best i can do is stay inside at home. and when going out use the handwipes they have everwhere here.
if someone is sick ask them to stay away is the best i can do.

No, what did you send? I've been wanting to call you. I will try to call that lady tomorrow. I've had a bad week. The pain has been unbearable. Anyway, I'm going to set a reminder to get that done for you.
I need to talk to you about
some other stuff I've been thinking about
so I will try to call you. If I don't call tomorrow, that means I'm feeling like crap so I'll try Saturday.

My LLMD says get the flu shot. But I am not doing the swine one. My kids pediatrician is not giving the swine shot to any of his patients. He said he wants to "watch it for a bit". I think the regular one is fine.

I got the regular Flu shot about
a month ago. Unfortunately I have been suffering with the H1N1 flu for the last 5 days. It has been horrible - but I am over the hump and on the road to recovery.

i just watched the news tonight and Tx now has a N1H1 web site, TexasFlu.org this site list a ton of info on it, and even reported cases by county here. they said Tx was and is the only state to have this so far. check it out maybe we all can learn something from it.

Some flu shots still have mercury preservative in them. I was shocked to find this out. Check carefully if yours does. mercury in shots is illegal in NY, but still happens in NJ. After years of taking them, I am now against taking them, they seem to stir up too many problems for me.
