Tooth Discoloration From Doxy

Just another note. My meds are being changed from the Doxy to Azithromycin and Plaquenil, but I just read where the azithromycin can cause tooth discoloration also. Am I just running in mad circles?

This is Kay of KC and I was taking 400 mg. of Doxycycline for one full year with Mycobutin (Oral form of Rifampin) and my teeth actually had black etching from the surface.  Rest assured,  a good cleaning and some white strips, back to normal. 

I panicked too, but if you can hang in there, try to.

 PS. I am now treating the Babesia with Mepron, yellow paintball like liquid suspension and now they're yellow!

I spoke with someone the other day who swears by Arm & Hammer Whitening Tooothpaste. She said it helped to keep the staining at bay after having her teeth cleaned. She has LD also, so I guess I will give that a try. Just a side note, I am now taking Biaxin instead of Zithromax because my insurance wouldn't cover it. Oh the joys of insurance.

I am on doxy rifampin and Tindamax. In my third month I got the brown/black mold like stains on the inside of my teeth and a bad sour taste in my mouth. My hygienist cleaned it off easily and the bad taste went away. Six weeks later it was back. I now get my teeth cleaned every two months until I get off these abx.

My teeth are getting discolored from Doxy too. I also have the black rimming my teeth (is that from toxins?), the Dr. told me to use biotene toothpaste and mouth rinse with PFB...it has to have the PFB...and it has actually broke some of this black lining down in places, but not getting rid of it completely..I'm waiting on a cleaning appt with my dentist.
