do you ever get over lymes?

I feel so defeated. Reading how terrible some of you have it. I've had it for a long 8 years, give or take, and finally just got diagnosed. I'm on abx now and my doc told me don't worry we will get you over this. But after reading about how hard it is to get rid of I now wonder if I will ever be over it. I almost feel like I should be looking into how to live with it because getting rid of it seems almost hopeless. Have any of you actually just been on abx and gotten over it? Any response, good or bad, will be appreciated. I'm justing trying to figure out what may lie ahead of me.

If you haven't already read it, you might want to read "Cure Unknown." Or rent the DVD "Under Our Skin." Some people do get better. It's such an individual disease. It takes some people longer than others to recover, and different people need different treatments. Some people stay on low dose antibiotics for the rest of their lives and live symptom free. Some people get worse. If you've had Lyme for a long time, that's a complicating factor. If you have coinfections, that also makes treatment more difficult. However, there are many options for treatment so if something isn't working there is always something else to try. Having a good doctor helps in figuring ont which one will be right for you. And listening to your body also helps. Don't get discouraged. It sounds as if, like me, you are at the beginning of the journey. We have no way of knowing yet how it will go for us. It is good to learn from the people here what we can do to help ourselves. And it's always good to know there is someone else going through what we are experiencing.
