It doesn't make any sense for doctors to be ok with prescribing a couple of years of doxy for people with acne - as they did for my daughter, yet be fearful to allow more than 3 weeks of it for people with lyme disease - as they were for me.
I've had LD since 1993 - but didn't know it for 10 years. By then it was too late for complete eradication. I could order abx for myself, yet fear doing it. Instead I've tried finding herbal supplements to build up the immune system and come to some kind of symbiotic balance with the disease. I know it's a losing game - ever so often I get a strong probelm in a new part of my body. Always somewhere that I never expected. When I tested positive in the CNS I did get 4 weeks of IV, so I know my mind is affected. I've read a lot about lyme alzheimer's so expect that eventually the bacteria will win.
It's hard to find a balance of which supplements to take and how many and how often. Trial and error is the only choice when doctors leave you out there all alone. Read, read, read. Salt/C doesn't seem sensible because of the blood pressure problems. Try vitamins that wash out of your system immediately and see how you feel (some of the B's and C's). Add others one at a time slowly, and try to check what they do. Be as careful with the herbal antibiotics as you would be with the manmade ones. Check on their side effects and figure what you can deal with and what you can't. Pain relief is out there somewhere - it's just never immediate.
I don't have any other advice, but it doesn't help to lay blame on any one's choices. We don't need the stress. Sleep, rest, pray and be careful - there isn't anything else we can do. Ginnia
