Buzzing/Humming in my ears anyone had?

I hear a buzzing sound too when it gets quiet and I've always thought it was the "quiet" making that noise. I know that sounds weird but I've always heard that noise for years now.

Is this similiar to what you are talking about?

Toguy, I am really sorry you are having ear buzzing. That started for me two months ago; before that I did not have an ear problem. First my ears started with a shhhhhh sound, and they felt clogged up. Now the shhhhhh sound is accompanied by a high-pitched weeeeeeeeeeee. If I focus on it, it is very noticeable but if I keep busy I don't pay much attention to it. When I am home alone I either play music or have the TV on so that I don't just hear the sounds. I am still hoping this will go away. For me it started with a sinus "cold" and a lot of sneezing. In my investigations I've found it could be caused by Lyme and/or coinfections, it could be caused by biofilm (mucus full of pathogens of all sorts), it could be caused by unresolved sinus drainage issues, it could be caused by toxins (die-off debris from taking antibiotics and killing bacteria) draining through the sinuses and into the ear. Bottom line, my ENT said there isn't anything they can do about it; he called it eustation (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) tube problems, gave me some sinus meds, recommended a neti pot, and advised me to be patient. Meanwhile, the hearing test they gave me shows mild hearing loss; something I did not have last year when my last hearing test was done. At this point I'm just hoping it doesn't get any worse. If you haven't tried sinus meds or a neti pot, that may help some. Good luck.

the buzzing sounds like when you leave a stereo or electronic device on with voluume turn down and you hear that buzzing hissing sound coming through the device or speakers,I was thinking myself it could be die off and hope it is, today its a little de-tuned and less annoying lol, the things we have to deal with and describe to one another ahhh , it makes me laugh and makes me angry about our gouverment, there could of maybe been a cure for all this if it was more recognized and more researched earlier , the fight goes on hopefully in the near future,
so bottom line i think the buzzing could be die off as i do feel more fatigued and a bit strange ,well i always feel a bit strange but ya know what i mean no one else does,

Cagungrl yes it is similar to mine , i sleep with tv on to begin to fall asleep ,then when really tired i turn tv off , and in the morning there it is again, some mornings more profound then others, its been 2 weeks and had it last year aswell, i am currently on month 5 of Cowden and no big difference in the way i feel,will go back on abx's soon

Traveler actually pluging my ear seems to help, but i cant sleep comfortably knowing i cant hear an emergency situation unfolding in my home , i live alone most of the time, and i notice its my left ear mostly the right one seems much better so if i sleep on my right side im usually bit better

I've had the ear ringing for 4 years, as well. It started about 3 months after this mess started. I still remember the day it started...really loud and I just couldn't ignore it. Most of the time it's not real loud now, but it changes in intesity. I'm just used to it and try not to let it bother me like it did in the beginning. I also notice it mostly in the evening. If it's loud I will notice it at other times, too.

Nothing really. I gotta be honest though, I HATE HATE HATE being sick or having something wrong with me, so often if it's not bothering me right at that very moment, I don't even remember that it's a problem and forget to even mention it or I really downplay it. Like the other day, someone asked me how I was and I went on about how great I was doing yada yada, and then later when something started to hurt pretty badly I remembered I'm not really doing that great at all!

I know it's very hard to do, but try not to think about it. Sometimes when we think about a particular issue too much it becomes larger than life and intolerable. My family doc a few years ago told me that many many people have ear ringing for various reasons (ibuprofen use is a very common cause) and not much can be done about it. I know one person who takes some kind of herb or supplement that makes it more tolerable, but I dont know what the name of it is. If I find out, I'll let you know!

Yes, I have on and off tinnitus. Mine started 3 yrs ago this month after I had a D&C, and this is what pretty much sparked off all my symptoms.

It started with major joint cracking, then the ringing, then all the other fun lyme stuff.

The tinnitus has come and gone, but it's mostly there. My ringing is exactly how you've explained it.

Not sure how to get rid of it, but it's not looking good, since I think the damage to the ear drums are permanent.
Many illness brings about tinnitus.

Also, if you're still on medication, this actually makes it worse. I do go weeks without tinnitus but cannot yet attribute it to any one thing.

It is VERY annoying though

My ear ringing started for the first time when I had my relapse after going off antibiotics too soon.

It was not one of my original symptoms--- neither was the vertigo/imbalance I am still dealing with.

Oh the joys of Lyme....the gift that keeps on giving.
