thick blood

Hi Gang,
i just wanted to open a thread about thick quaqulated blood with my new found experience.

My doctor just started me on heparin over the weekend and already I am seeing the difference.
I just had a lymph treatment and they have been working on my lower legs just above the ankle
because I couldn't walk on my left foot.

After being on the blood thinner for just 3 days I got up this morning and actually stood up on my feet and
went up and down the stairs.

It's hard to believe that I was never given the test for quagulation by any other doctor before and it was the first
thing that my doctor did now. the test was 6 tubes of blood and it took over a week to come back and on paper it
reads out as only one area that was off but when looking at my blood when drawing it you could see like puffy clouds.

so the doctor put me on the heparin and I am feeling less preasure in my head also.

Just wanted to put that out there that lyme is very common with thick quaqulated blood. Maybe someone can explain better
than I am here of how it works and effects us.

Bucci: So glad you are seeing improvement so soon. What is the name of the test to ask for with hypercoagulation? Are you seeing an LLMD or do other docs such as Rheumatologists do this test as well? I am almost certain that I have the same problem.  Thanks   D

One of the doctor's at the Hansa Center told me to always have blood drawn from the right arm. Sorry, I can't remember what the reason is for that.

i know how you feel about the thick blood i already had thick blood due to a blood clotting disorder called factor 5 now its even worse and the lovenox shots hurt cause they have to be given in the stomach

Bucci - can you describe to me the pressure you feel on your head? I always have pressure - I call it skull pressure because it's not a headache - sometimes it's worse on the top of my head, sometimes on my forehead and sometimes the back of my head. Bending forward brings on the pain very quickly.

I had a Lumbar Puncture on Nov 23rd to test my spinal fluid for a whole lot of things. I was warned by the Neurologist that I would experience headaches for about 48 hours. I felt the exact opposite. I got horribly nauseated during the removal of the fluid but the second he removed the needle I felt such an incredible sensation - pressure was almost completely gone and for 2 weeks I felt better in my head than I had since Nov 2005 when this symptom started. So I have assumed that the pressure on my head is because of spinal fluid build up rather than thick blood. I'd never heard of this before and want to know more.

Interesting stuff Razzle - thank you! It's the first time I've seen something that describes the pain in my head and the constant ringing in my ears. I certainly fit the group most afflicted as well - woman, child bearing age, obese. Only eye issues are that I now need glasses - not uncommon at my age.
