Old Symptoms Returning After IV Therapy...Opinions Please!

Hello, I'm new to this Forum but not to fighting Lyme Dis. and Babesia.

I have been on Mepron/Azithro. for a couple years for Babesia. I started IV Rocephin 14 months ago and got my PICC Line out last wk. From Sept 2009-Nov. 2009 I was feeling really good. In December 2009 I got Giardi-parasite and very sick, was actually diagnosed in late Jan. 2010 and hospitalized 5 days. I went competely off Lyme and Babesia meds because my stomach was awful with the Giardi. I was off the Mepron one wk. and started sweating thru bed sheets in hosp. and chilling so got back on Mepron/Azithro. quick-it got better. I had to stop my IV Rocephin prior to being hospitalized because when infusing I would get sharp stomach pains. The Giardi got cleared up after a few wks. Last wk. my Lyme Dr. adviced me to get my PICC Line out(I thought this was best too)-my CD57 had been over 110 since Aug or Sept and the Rocephin was affecting my stomach bad. He thinks the Lyme's in remission. So I have not been taking Rocephin for about 3 wks total. about a wk. ago I upped Cymbalta from 30mg to 60mg-a few days later felt fatigue,muscle ache,restless legs,etc. I and Dr. was convinced it was side effects and dropped dosage back down to 30mg. However, now my muscles are twitching some,very stiff neck and upper back,muscle and cardio weakness,can't catch my breath sometimes(syptoms come and go)-it almost feels like Lyme has flared-hopefully just temp. Does anybody have any opinions? Do symptoms sometimes flare up for a little while after finishing a medication? I hope it's not the Lyme but I'm a little concerned obviously.

Yes, Lyme symptoms can flare after stopping a med. Happens to me every time my doctor tries to take me off abx.

Thanks Razzle. Wouldn't flare-ups mean the Lyme is still a underline problem and needs to be treated? I'm sure my CD57 will come back normal. How accurate are these?

It seemed my daughter was having flare ups so her antibiotics were increased. And the symptoms got worse. Seems it is was Lyme causing the problems, but candida from all the antibiotics and her liver is not coping well with all the meds. Google "candida symptoms". They are so much like Lyme and are caused by antibiotics.

Thanks. Just googled candida symptoms, it said creates memory loss,mood swings,etc.-Right now these symptoms aren't a problem for me. Did your daughter's stiffness and arthritic problems get worse because of candida or the Lyme? My new chirpractor said I have a yeast problem. For 3 yrs. I have taken probitics,just started Grapefruit Seed Extract-it already has took the white coat off my tongue.

about the cymbalta. I tried it twice. once before I realized 90% of my prolems were lyme related ant it made me sleepy
and my right side (which seems to be the side where all neuro problems are) went numb all the way to the top of my hand.
Also personality not right. Then I tried it again when I first attempeted doxcycline and it made me nuts.

My new lyme doc told me he won't prescribe antidepressants with lyme because it is in brain. I take 2 tablets first thing in morning of 75 mg DLPHELANALYNINE and it made me much calmer and the crying jiggs stopped.
He also told me to take it with B100 but i didn't buy it yet.

about the yeast I had 2 different stoll tests done over a 6 month period and candida is showing up very strong.
so I just posted that my doc gave me a prescription of nyastatin and told me to get berberine from natures way and also
caprylic acid from natures. way. I went to the website he gave me a print out of but you can not buy them there but they have
a list of reommended stuff. It is a very interesting site. fungusfocus.com

It seems to me that not enough focus is on elminating the toxins with the antibiotics. the doctor I am seeing the whole focus is on pulling everything out. Maybe this is what happens with the antibiotics? maybe that is why people have to keep going back on them> I don't understand it the length of time everyone is on antibiotics. I will never survive that much meds.

Also another thing I have been getting in my treatment is glutathione in IV at least 3 days a week.

I can't believe it took me all these years to get to the yeast thing. the nyastatin doesn't even taste disgusting.

Thanks for the input. Do you think Cymbalta could cause Lyme systems-stiff neck,back,twitching,muscle weakness-to flare-up? It is kinda ironic that symptoms started up 2 days after I increased from 30-60mg of Cymbalta, I dropped dosage to 30mg again but symptoms are still here-a little better. It has made by mood better for me. Of course I did get off my PICC Line recently too. It's hard to know the cause, I guess I could always wing off the Cymbalta and see if symptoms get better. I do know when I took the 60mg I felt like I was going to crash-extremely tired but restless-insomnia and then other problems like the ones I listed above started in-that's when I dropped the 60mg and fatigue got better but other stuff didn't really. I've been under a lot of stress, sometimes that's when symptoms try to creep in. I think a lot of the Lyme bugs are out of me but I would love to kill the remaining for good! I do GSE for yeast and will be trying other stuff soon-my diet is going to change-no more sugars or carbs.

Hey fighter, does your insurance cover cymbalta?
I paid cash for mine. $$$
There is woman next to me in clinic who is in agony with neck.
Everything so much better but you can see the strain on her whole face
And body from this neck thing.

She is not on antidepresants. She took one of my 5mg roxy
Pain pill and her whole face and posture changed.

My psychiatrist in NY is a pharmacologist. She has Lyme
Patients and she told me over phone you have to be very
Careful treating Lyme depression especially while on abx treatment.

My Lyme doc here will give me pain meds but not antidepressant.

Mixing cymbalta with pain med can be dangerous.
Cymbalta gets lot of press for fibro people because it takes care of pain and depression but it
Is new and Lyme brain is Lyme or bartonella in our brains.

Pain pills like oxy can cause depression. It is such a mixed bag. Trick bag.
Pick your poison!!

And nothing can you just stop. It tuff decision. But I keep leaning toward good
Homeopathy for my depression at it's deepest level.
Meaning myasms that are inherited and can't believe after one dose what opens up for me.

The pain though is so old deep and neuro is gonna take a while.

DL phelanaline also calmed me down.

I'm doing Nystatin and have to buy herbs my doc told me to get.
I love GSE . Gonna get some too.

But no carbs gets me depressed. I found frozen rice almond bread.

Did you do coffee enemas too?

I think it is likely that the flare-ups are an indication of re-activated Lyme (or re-infection), but this is just my personal opinion. CD57 is not relied on by all LLMD's - the usefulness of the CD57 test is controversial, like everything else with Lyme...

 I had a very bad experience with Cymbalta. I would cut that out first. I also did not tolerate Lyrica very well.

I can't focus well so did Neurontin come up.  It works for me for pain.

Investigate Pamelor (nortriptyline) if you need an anti-depressant.  It also helps with sleep.
