Which probiotics help a particular individual depend on specific uniquenesses of the individual...therefore, what works great for one may not be helpful for another. My Mom, for example, told me the other day that she has tried many different probiotics and never felt any different until she tried one that is enteric coated (to bypass the stomach acid that some think kills the "friendlies"). I've tried a number of different ones with no help (or they made me feel sicker) as well, and finally settled on one that seems to acutally help - it is a chewable tablet version made by Jarrow (called "Yum-Yum Dophilus").
Also, you might consider a probiotic "implant" - the usual procedure for this is to get a colonic (colon cleansing) and then the practitioner puts some probiotics in your colon afterwords. The goal is to hold it in for a sufficient time for the critters to stick to the wall of the colon and restore colonies of "friendlies" after the cleansing of the colonic has removed the junk from the colon.
