I've been to Dr. S. in Howell didn't like.  can anyone refer me to a decent LLMD in NJ or NY City that takes the time to figure out ON A PERSONAL BASIS what's the best treatment for me?  This is just so unbelieveably frustrating.  Going to fight ins. co. but figured I'd better have a back up plan.  mad

Can't tell you of a good LLMD in NJ or NYC, but I can give you some links to websites where you can get some referrals in those areas. Just shoot me off an email and I'll be glad to send you the links.

What is it exactly that you don't like about Dr. S in NJ?  I currently am taking my 14 year old daughter to see him.  She actually likes him and feels comfortable with him and as a plus he accepts my insurance so no out of pocket expenses.  I've only seen him twice and he is not very personable but if he's getting the job done isn't that what matters most?  I don't care if he's not the most talkative guy.  I'm just curious as to what your experiences were with him as a warning to us.  I want to make sure that my daughter is getting the very best care that I can give her.

He may be a really good doctor.  However, I personally need someone I can hear for one, I could not hear his mumbling, and who I could ask questions and get more than a one word answer.  I like stuff explained to me and I was in and out on my first appointment in 10 minutes after trying to get diagnosed for 4 years.  That is just not for me.  Good luck to your daughter.

Yes, he does talk very quietly and very short answers I agree. Maybe that's why my daughter likes him...she's very shy and doesn't like to talk very much :)...... I'm going to make a list of questions for my visit to him on Monday. As long as I get my answers that's all that matters to me and of course him giving her the proper treatment protocols. He's been treating this disease for over 20 years so I feel he has a lot of knowledge on what's he's doing.
Good luck finding a doc that you are comfortable with, it is important. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks and best of luck to you. I will say I am running into problems with infectious disease dr. not really knowing lyme so stay with LLMD if you can.

I am currently seeing Dr S. In Howell. Not only myself but two good friend's of mine are also seeing him. The Dr. is awesome. He has gotten us all between 90 and 95% better. My friend was in a wheel chair and now she is out and teaching again. My other friend is now able to work a full week sometimes over 40 hours. I myself have to say the same. he may be quiet but he knows Lymes Disease and knows medications to treat lyme very well. He will also answer any question you have for him and he will also call you back himself on the phone when you call. The girls in the office are amazing one nicer then the next, all willing to help. For me and my friends this doctor is a keeper. Good luck to your daughter. : )

I am also a patient of Dr S and agree totally with Ria123. I'm well on the way to recovery. The doctor always answered my questions and has had good advice that got me better and alleviated my symptoms. He is matter of fact about how much work is involved in beating this disease and he seems honestly pleased when you start to get well. I appreciate the quick appointment as I have a long drive and usually need to get home as quickly as possible. Good luck lauriemay and hope your daughter is feeling better.
