I have a son who I would like to have tested for babesiosis and lyme.  Do I have to have a dr's prescription to do this?   How would I go about getting his blood to Igenex?  thank u

You can order a free test kit from Igenex. Take that to your doctor and he has to sign and provide a diagnosis code on the form that you send in with the blood. The office can draw the blood for you, you then send it and the form in the FedEx bag that is provided with the test kit to Igenenx.

I would do the regular local lyme test 1st, if that is negative then procede to Igenex

what is the normal local lyme test? If i went the igenix route what n earth would PA put for diagnosis code? Lyme ? I guess but i do not think she believes in it as i have Fibromylagia according to her, but thank u guys this can get me started I can call igenix for list of prices!!

"normal local lyme test" is a Lyme ELISA and Western Blot test through any local lab. We know these labs aren't great, but if you get a positive out of one of them, then non-LLMD's may sit up and take notice more...

I don't know what to put as a dx code - maybe joint pain, or fatigue, or flu-like symptoms? I think my doctor used the flu-like stuff or something like that...

Thank u Ilikethe fatigue (she is going to say of course he is tired he has mono) I just wonder how many people like us would test positive for the epstein bar virus, I read MS patients do.

I don't test positive for EBV or CMV or any other stuff, including the usual coinfections (Babesia, Bartonella, Ehrlichia/Anaplasma, Mycoplasma), I only test positive for Lyme. Clinically, I have Bartonella - per LLMD. And I personally think I also have Anaplasma (low WBC's, low lymphocytes (both B & T cells), low rbc's (anemia - non-responsive to iron, B12, folate), low platelets, sensitive liver) despite negative test results from both Fry & IGeneX.
