Yes, I had dreadful anxiety, and it has gone away with getting treatment. If a little bit comes back, I know that I need to take care of myself better. Keep reminding yourself that it is the disease, there is nothing really wrong and try to remove the things that make you more anxious.

Hi Liz,
There are several threads going on right now about
this very topic! Yes, I never suffered from anxiety or panic until I got sick. It is the scariest symptom for me because I keep thinking I am going to have a stroke. After 5 months of this, I know I am not going to have one, so just kind of wait for the "wave" to pass.
I have good days and bad days, but I have not been "cured" of them yet. I just began treatment for bartonella yesterday. I am holding out hope that in a couple of months the abx will work. I am also taking herbal concoctions similar to Jernigans.
Have you been diagnosed with any co-infections? Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the help. I was just dx with lyme through igeniex. I was tested for co-infections but they wont be back until the end of the month. I hear bartonella causes severe anxiety, and I hope and pray that I don't have it. It is the worst symptom for me and its every single day. I feel like I am going crazy. I have a hard time breathing, and that really makes it worse. The heat doesnt help either.

Liz, all I can say is 'yes'. Dear God, yes.
And that part of it could be Babesia.

Hi Don,
Did she have any co-infections with the lyme if you know? I am being treated for 4 weeks and still have the bad anxiety. I had to fly from New Jersey (first time on a plane) to be treated here in Arizona. It is a 2 month protocol. They will know the end of the month if I have any co-infections, but have a feeling it must be a co-infection causing all this anxiety. It is a terrible, terrible symptom!! I have been dealing with it constant for 7 years and know how your daughter felt. Horrible. It took alot for me to fly with all this anxiety/panic. I am trying to be hopeful with god's help.

Don,
No I am at longlife medical center in mesa, AZ. They do almost the same protocol as envita. I have treatment 3 days a week. Usually, chelation therapy, zithromax, lymphage drainage, ozone sauna, hyro peroxide, vitamin c, anf foot detoxes. I just ended my 4th week and don't see to much of a difference. I am waiting for the day I can wake up and say I feel great! :)

I have developed anxiety...I hate it and wish it would go away. I think I'm paranoid at times.

yes yes and yes. I too never had anxiety until I got lyme. I had panic attacks and anxiety as a major part of my lyme. It did get better with treatment, but once i got well, I still had anxiety (mostly because I was so sick for 3 years I barely left the house and didn't drive during that time). I went to therapy for about
6 months (no medication) and my anxiety went away and I went on to live a normal life.
I do now still have some anxiety that came back when I relapsed, but yes, it can get better with treatment and will help.

My anxiety used to be worse before diagnosis and treatment, but it's difficult for me to sort out whether the primary cause was the infections or the fact that I was constantly sick and getting sicker and couldn't get a diagnosis that covered everything. Certainly when I feel like I can't breathe or I feel like my heart is affected or I think about
my risk factors for stroke or I'm having pins and needles all over, it's unsettling. It used to make me anxious, but now I've settled into a kind of resigned depression. On good days I can't figure out why I get like that, but on bad days - and there are a lot - I can't seem to get above it. I lose a lot of days that way. If I force myself to go out and do something, I spend the whole time wanting to get back home. In addition to Lyme, I have bartonella and babesia. I've heard bartonella, in particular, can influence mental health. Right now I'm still under treatment for the babesia. I hope once we get to the bartonella that these mental symptoms will dissipate.
It's a long road to recovery and for me one of the most challenging things is to remain patient and not to give up thinking I will someday have my life back. I hope you do not have coinfections, but if you do, at least know they may be the cause of your anxiety and with treatment you should be feeling better.
