Lyme Exposure Poll: Please help with my research!

I think I'm probably not the only one here that would want to know what this info would be used for?? and by who??

If you want to use the info for anything, other than your own curiosity, you have to be careful how you are doing the poll.  From my fuzzy statistics classes, I remember that you have to control for duplicates.  You are doing the oposite here, you are inviting everyone to participate and vote for everyone else. Your results will be biased--this is not how research is conducted.

I do think that a poll would be a good idea, but you are doing it wrong, in my humble opinion.

Regardless of the accuracy of this poll, I find it very interesting that North Florida is second only to SE PA! So much for no Lyme in Florida

Simela:  This is not a poll for any organization. It's for me personally....I'd like to write a research paper on it, hopefully.  It is unofficial....for the people. If I was in a Statistics class, I'd do it differently.  But it's for US, not some government run organization who can chop it up.  That's why I made it the way I did.  Whether it's wrong or right, it's for us.

An important issue to your poll that seems to be overlooked is that some people may not live where they contracted lyme, some just don't know. I live in Central Florida (not north or south) and may have gotten it here or any of these states I traveled through w/in a reasonalbe amount of time from first "becoming sick" (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky)

Also, fyi for your additional studies, check out UNF, they were doing some interesting lyme studies. One of the most astounding facts I came across was the extrememly high percentage of LIZARDS that tested lyme positive. It is thought lyme comes from several sources; biting flys, mosquitos, etc. not just ticks.

One son contracted lyme in King City, Calif. The other son contracted lyme in the little Town Of Washington, Calif. on the South Fork of the Yuba river. It is about 30 miles North of Nevada City, Calif. I have known several people who got lyme in the Santa Cruz Mtns. of California.
