I had a very minor reaction to an Iodine contrast a couple of years ago that was easily remedied with a benedryl pill.
Recently went to enmergency room at hospital and while I told them that I'd had a minor reaction that was controlled by Benedryl I also told them that while I was temporarly on low dose hydrocortison (2.5-mg) and that steriods were not recommended for lyme patients.
The doc ordered a contrast head CT and I found out the following day that they not only gave me IV Benedryl, they also gave me IV prednisone. I provided the neurologist with information about SPECT scan I'd had recently at the hospital she was connected with (it was a video conference) that showed inflamatory enceph.
about a week latter I developed a nasty case of Shingles and I'm thinking there is a definate connection.
Has anyone else had a similar situation/outcome? Shouldn't the Doc have know not to give me Prednisone?
