Anyone? Is it working?

Because I don't see a LLMD I am sort of having to go in through the back door on this. I was clinically diagnosed with Lyme 5 yrs ago and then moved...when I tried to go back to see that Dr (an unofficial LLMD) he only sees Lyme patients out-of-pocket (despite actually taking my insurance!) I also see a very open-minded immunologist. My PC thinks I have CFS, and agreed to put me back on antiivrals after my having success with them previously, then my immunologist put me on doxy 100mg bid...and I herx'd after 48 hrs, it lasted about a week and then I felt better. HE said it ws a herx(I knew this, of course lol) and wants me to continue on it and is sending me for a cd57 test.

Anyways...has this combo worked for anyone?

I took anti-malaria medication for several months - I think it may have helped a little, but no real way of knowing...

Is your doctor planning on increasing your Doxy dosage now that you feel better?

I tried a combination of antivirals and antibiotics for a few months. I didn't notice a difference after adding the anti-virals. They were added to my meds because of highly elevated EBV titers. It's worth a try if your insurance will cover them.

Raw runner, are you familiar with the recent research on the XMRV virus? If not, you might want to give it a look. Pretty interesting stuff.

I have seen the studies on XMRV, actually...what a great breakthrough! When I first got my dx of CFS (which was 3 years after the clinical dx of Lyme) I was on the fence about believing it.  My understanding though is one does not herx on abx unless it IS in fact Lyme? I do also have elevated EBV, HHP-6, and mycoplasma pneumonae (hence the antiviral) in addition to my CD57 being in the toilet...

From my understanding XMRV might not just be confined to CFS but many chronic illnesses (or so I'm told). We'll see how it plays out. I was skeptical about it at first but the latest paper by NIH makes me a believer. I don't think it's the cause of CFS but perhaps a component that makes the immune system struggle to fight off the underlying infection(s).

Yes herx is certainly a good indicator of Lyme.

I have been treating for lyme, co-infections, cpn, EBV, etc. for a while. Yes, I take acyclivir (generic is cheaper) along with antibiotics. Have for quite a while. I don't know if I notice a difference, but my doctor EBV is off the charts as well others. Diagnosed in 1995 for FMS and CFS. Finally started treatment for positve Lyme etc in 2003. By then it was neuro and chronic.

Newer antibiotic combo started in June: Mino, Dory, Tindamax, Acyclivir. I have been under treat with LLMD since 2003. Live in hyperendemic area and constantly reexposed (one ticked tested positive for RMSF) or the lyme is chronic.

Thank you for the responses...I am thinking I will need a second abx. at some point as I am fairly certian I have bart. as well...my EBV were silly high, as well.  Right now I am herxing enough, though so I am in no rush to add to the mix!
