Positive Western Blot Results with Question

On my Igenex Western Blot, I had a negative IGM and positive IGG....Both were negative with CDC guidelines

I am confused as to what the ** on the left are in relation to the minus/plus/or Ind is on the right

In order to be a positive does the results have to be 2 ** with 2 ++ ??

Hi Twisted,

The criteria for a positive result has to have at least two double starred bands(**) for IGM and I think five double starred bands for IGG. It's been a while since I looked at my results but it tells you on your bloodwork.

The double-starred bands are bands that IGeneX considers significant for Lyme. The CDC criteria omit bands 31 & 34 because of vaccine development.

What significance is the +. - and Ind on the right? How does that relate to test?

+ means that band showed positive, - means there was no response on that band, and IND means that there was a response on the band but not strongly enough to be called +.
