hello veryone...i hear ya!
years ago, i had a great chiro who helped me wiTh illeocecal valve trouble. at the time, i had candida REAL BAD, which was the beginning of my IBS. also lymes.
it just amazes me how, massageing and adjusting this gut valve, my head clears, and within 1/2 hour, have a complete bm.
this has helped me in a huge way. i do this every day, 2-3 X.
it makes sense to me that with the inflamation of this wicked misery,
the valves do not open and close properly, and can cause constipation.
THIS IS A PRETTY GOOD LINK SHOWING HOW TO DO IT FOR YOURSELF.

because i have a lot of intestinal scar tissue, i do need some help moving the load thru.
i use powder herbal formula of my own, always after dinner.
slippery elm, oregon graPE, licorice, senna. with psyllium husk, in a big drink of h20.
using catsclaw with cleavers 2-3 x/day has become a real help.
5HTP helps too. 100mg 2x/day....nourishment for the function...
i notice how eating gluten or dairy inflames it.
to address the 'energy' factor of it, i find that yoga helps.
i do the meridian sequence from a great book
'ACU YOGA' by MICHEALE GACH.
it's real relaxing, stretching, easy, and not acrobatic at all.
issues of the gut are SO hard, and we have to find what works for us, and be ever vigilant to maintain.
PS.
i learned some good things from the AUYERVEDIC way,
that helpd me change some unhealthy habits.
when i was younger, i ate for comfort...all the time.
the auyervedic way says to have a SCHEDULE,
not eat anything between meals because it upsets the 'rhythm' of the gut. i know that if i eat anything after dinner, i will be constipated in the morning. i have learned to eat only at meal time, 3X a day.
...not about calories. only gut.
another thing i learned from studying auyervedic way is DOSHAS.
everybody has a combination of 3 different dosha (body type)
which have different characteristics and needs, so we're all different.
i thot i was doing well because i was eating so much raw veggies and brown rice...... and i was constipated. then i learned that my main dosha is 'vata',which is cold and dry in nature, and does better with cooked veggies, more moist foods, more butter, dairy (at the time)......everything i wanted to eat.
it changed my whole way of eating, and gut health.
so i try hard to follow dosha type.
i do better on short brown rice, with cooked veggies, curry, and sour cream. and meat.
