Newbie here....

I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself.  I have been a lurker on the fibro boards after being diagnosed 4 years ago.  Just started posting over there recently  when all my symptoms changed and worsened and I was seeking out information. 

I have been going to doctors for years only to have them tell me that I needed to see a psychiatrist, I was depressed and pretty much labeled a crazy person.  I kept telling them something is wrong.  So...they decided to shove pills down my throat.  I finally said enough and went to a holistic doctor who ran numerous tests and she was the one to figure out I had lyme.  She put me on doxy 200 mg a day, which I have now learned from reading on here that that is not a good dosage.  Also, thanks to this forum I learned about all the co-infections and have managed to find a dr. that specializes in lyme and am going to contact them on monday about an appointment. 

I feel like crap and honestly didnt realize i could feel this bad.  I hate that everyone else on here has to suffer, but i'm glad to know that I am not alone.  I feel like I have had this for at least 10 years and I am totally scared and really having a hard time keeping it together.

Welcome to the forum!!! I am so sorry that you have been ill for so long, but as 079 said, you are NOT alone!!! I'm sure you will find us to be a caring, helpful and understanding group!!! Feel free to ask your questions here!! We can even help you track down some info, although you will find a whole lot of info right here on this site!!

If you haven't already, you should read through the sticky thread at the top of the forum titled, "New to Lyme?...Start here!" as it is packed full of important info and great links. Another great way to find info from past posts is to use the search button in the dark blue header.

Another thing that you could start today that would be a big help is detoxing. It's quite likely that you already have most of what you need already in your home! There is a great, detailed post about detoxing in the "New to Lyme?" thread (the third post down), but it's as easy as a little daily dry-skin

brushing & a nice foot bath or full bath!! We pick up a lot of toxins daily from the air we breathe, the things we touch or are exposed to in some way - and once you start any treatment for killing bacteria, then you have those toxins that

your body is trying to deal with as well. Detoxing will ease a lot of your symptoms. For some reasons I sure don't understand, very few docs even mention detoxing, much less recommend it.

It's a good thing that you already have found a Lyme-literate doc, although don't be too disappointed if you can't get in right away. They are in high demand as there is a lot of us and only a handful of them. Which brings me to the point of explaining, please be careful to not mention doctor's names

on the forum. We need to protect them from legal action, as the treatment that is needed in order to be effective against Lyme & co-infections are not looked upon kindly. Although it's okay for Dermatologists to give high doses of abx long term for acne, evidently it's not okay to dothe same thing for tick-borne infections.
