Has anyone had these Blood Tests before?

In all my 5+ years I had never had these 2 tests done until last month.  Just got the results sent to me yesterday....

ECP and C4A Level

ECP is for Babs and C4A for Lyme

Both show high load levels

Here I was thinking the remaining issues were my hormones and thyroid...and now this...

So not ready to go thru this again, have been off abx for 1+ years now and doing pretty good.  Not even sure I will go thru it again.

But was just wondering if anyone has had their LLMD do these tests.

C4a is used by some LLMD's as a marker for Lyme. With Lupus, C4a may be low; but I think with Lyme, C4a may be high, but don't quote me on that - I'm not super sure about this.

ECP is a byproduct of eosinophil degranulation (eosinophils are one type of granulocytic white blood cell). When eosinophils are called in to attack a parasite - babesia, in this case - the eosinophils degranulate, or break open, and spill their contents because the contents are what do the killing of the parasites. An elevated ECP is an indication that there is above normal activity of eosinophils in the blood stream. This may or may not indicate babesia infection - there are other things that can trigger eosinophilic degranulation (such as allergies, or other parasites, fungal infections, and possibly some other kinds of infections).

I've not had the ECP test, but I have had a C4 (but not the C4a) test and it was elevated. The doctor was thinking I had Lupus, hence why the C4 test was ordered.

I am having the C4a test(amongst others) run right now as well...it is used in Lyme, though I can't remember why...

No, other than the above. I did bite the bullet to please my husband and make an appt. with this new Dr. He is 5 1/2 hrs away from me....alot closer to you!
