I'm curious, why are you getting the vitamin C IV instead of taking it orally? I took what's known as a Meyer's cocktail which includes vitamins, minerals, and other things, depending on whatever else your doctor might want to add to the mix. Here's a good link which describes what a Meyer's Cocktail is:
www.opti-balance.com/meyers.htm It gave me some energy for about
three days but that was about
the extent of it for me. I did the Meyer's Cocktail IV about
three times but didn't feel it was worth the money to get a two or three day boost of energy when I could do the same thing with certain supplements.
They can be helpful though, it just depends on what your doctor put's in it and what the purpose of the IV is. I never herxed on it. I don't think many people would herx on a vitamin C IV (or even a Meyer's Cocktail) as it doesn't really kill anything, it just boosts your immune system and gives you some energy.
This is from a website that describes what a Meyers Cocktail is: "Myers’ Cocktail is a form of intravenous nutrient therapy that involves injecting a “cocktail” of nutrients, containing magnesium, calcium, B12, B6, B complex, and vitamin C, directly into the bloodstream to improve energy capacity and cell function".
Some doctors may add other things to the cocktail depending on what he/she feels your needs are for your specific health condition. I know some lyme patients get a Meyers cocktail to replenish their magnesium which helps with cramping, and others get it for their fibromyalgia to build up their energy levels and help them with their muscle pain.
Is it worth it? That's something only you can decide. However, if you're only getting a Vitamin C IV, I'd be curious as to why your doctor feels you need it? What is his purpose for giving you a vitamin C IV when you can take them orally for a lot less money, and if my opinion, they're just as effective?
