I was just reading something about Lyme and it rang a bell in my head. Back when i was in college about 10 years ago. I was hiking b4 my evening class. I had gone to the bathroom and found a tick embeded in my left leg. I didnt know the proper way to remove it so I tryed to rip it off and it wouldnt come off.

So I tryed again and it fell off, I lost it so I couldnt bring it with me. I had a bite mark and it hurt to tear him off. I ran into my class room and told the teacher thta I had to go to the emergency room to get med casue I found a tick.

I knew about Lyme and that you had to go on meds right away or you will get sick. I went to the ER and they gave me antibiotic for a week and told me to watch out for a bullsey...

Now my question is and I wish I remembered how I felt back then and so bad with time frame....

That I wonder if that tick gave me lyme ? I was about 23-22 and now 32 and 2 years 8 months ago got tested positive.

Just weird how all in my 20's I had horrible pain in my right shoulder that travel down to my fingers, and never slept well, and I remember my EX always saying to me "theres always something wrong with you" wish i knew what I complained about then... Makes me think..

'there's always something wrong with you' is a statement I've had spoken to me more times than I can count. It's amazing to me to look back at all the different symptoms I've had since childhood that eventually I just accepted as 'this is how I am'. When doctors continue to tell you it's in your head, you don't really have a choice.

And I know what you mean about wishing you could remember how you felt back then. I remember many times my dad removing tics from me and my brothers and sisters with a match or sometimes by putting vaseline on top of it to make it back out?! It was around this same time that I had a rash diagnosed as ringworm, but was it? Or was it a bullseye rash? I can't remember exactly what it looked like so I'll never know for sure. All I do know, is it was after that rash that all the peculiar ailments started and that is documented by my medical records.

It really is hard for me to believe sometimes that I could have been bitten that long ago(35 yrs) and still be suffering from it. But since the doctors haven't been able to figure it out I feel that it's a real posssibly.

I am so glad that some one understands.... My parents were divorced and my dad lived in Jamestown were there was always ticks and now many many years later its over populated with deer and majority of people on the Isalnd have Lyme...

I also read on here some where that someone had growing pains growing up and that it could of been Lyme. i remember when I was younger pre-teen that I had severe pain in my legs and on my side and my parents never thought anything of it cause the dr said it was growing pains that was just the beginning.

I also remember being 9 or 10 and complaining that my wrist hurt all the time, and my step dad called me a hyper contract which PO me off.

But like you said we will never know what it was and all I know now that I have Lyme.

I also remember being in High school and having a stomach problem, I couldnt eat meat or chicken it made me sick. weirdest thing ever. I always had strange things wrong with me.

But I am glad now that my Fiance is always wishing that he can take my pain a way and never says 'there is always something wrong with you" it makes me love him even more ;)

Jennie nailed it like Gibson did with Passion of the Christ.

I first was bitten at age 6 in the swamps of Jacksonville. I remember cause it was in my neck and my parents were freaking out while removing it. I had severe knee pains growing up and saw several doctors who said it was growing pains. I was later bitten in 2003 and 2008. But exhibited many symptoms of lyme at an early age. I've had it for about 30 years but when I was first exposed it still had not been discovered.

Who knows? If the tick was the size of pinhead, maybe the tick you remember was your tick, or maybe it wasn't. I never saw my tick, never had a bulls-eye rash, never had the flu or fever. It was 17 or 18 years between when I began having a variety of different symptoms that had me sick all the time and finally getting a diagnosis of Lyme. I saw dozens of Dr's and got sent to therapy for depression and psychosomatic illness. My son spent 5 years with Chronic Daily Migraine Syndrome before getting diagnosed with Lyme. No tick, no rash, no fever. Neurologists and therapists out the wazoo. I don't know what it's going to take for the American medical profession to realize that there is an epidemic going on under their noses.

There really is a EPIDEMIC.. when I was in the waiting room listening to 2 Lyme patience talk to eachother one of them even said the same thing abouth the American medical profession to realize that there is an epidemic... hopfully one day the will wake up and realize how seriouse this disease is...
