Anyhow, I wanted to comment on Cat's comment. My LLMD told me NOT TO TAKE REFRIGERATED Probiotics because they will interfere with your antibiotics. I told me to take FLORASTOR which I get at Costso. You have to ask them for it at the pharmacy because they don't put it out. It's about $35 per bottle.
I have always taken a lot of probiotics (esp. the refrigerated kind), but right now, I'm staying away from them. I suppose if you take it in the middle of the day, away from your ABX, then you would be fine.
Actually, in order to effectively take abx and to protect your stomach and intestines, take the probiotics 2 hrs away from the time that the abx are taken. A good quality probiotic is
absolutely necessary in order to maintain a balance between the good and the bad while taking abx - even more important when taking high doses of abx like are required to treat tick-borne infections.
I really like using keifr!!!
It has more than the necessary amount of probiotics in it and it can be made at home for just the cost of milk - and
any kind of milk can be used! Goat, coconut milk, soy milk, rice milk - it all works!!
