Reaction to B12 injection?

Hi everyone!

I'm just curious to find out if anyone has ever had a reaction from receiving a B12 injection. I was given an injection about 6 weeks ago and 12 hours later I ended up in the ER with a near syncope episode.(near fainting). This was followed by neurological symptoms for several weeks...dull headache, dim vision, memory problems, speech difficulties, much brain fog, coordination problems...you get the picture! Six weeks down the road and I am better with the neuro symptoms but have a bad musculoskeletal flare accompanied by extreme fatigue.

I had my first visit with a LLMD last week and I was very impressed. For the first time since I've been sick I felt like this physician knew where I was coming from, unlike the million others I've already seen!!! I want to encourage anyone who might be riding the fence on this...DON'T waste your time or money on any physician who is not LLMD in regards to treating lyme disease.

If you've had a reaction to B12 or have any thoughts on what this reaction might have been, please share your ideas. I also had a shot of Toradol for pain about 10 days prior to this reaction, which I thought might have contributed.

I was given Cyanocobalamin and actually witnessed my injection having been drawn up from that vial. I'm going to look into "Genomic Variants" and "methylation".

Is a "healing crisis" the same as a herx?

My B12 level was low and thus my doctor(my internist) wanted me to start receiving the injections once a month. I don't know what my level is now that I've had the injection...but I'm scared to death to have another one!!!

Healing Crisis vs Herx:

A healing crisis occurs when one gets treatment for a health condition and experiences a brief period of worstening symptoms before symptoms improve. A herx could be said to be a specific type of healing crisis related exclusively to the release of toxins from dying spirochetes (e.g., Lyme).

Lymester, thanks for challenging "common knowledge" on the subject of B12 absorption! Sometimes it's hard to think outside of what we've been taught previously, but where would we all be had we not sought outside of "common knowledge" on the subject of Lyme Disease.

Lymie 20, I forgot to mention in my post, but dizziness was one of my symptoms as well. I hope this is clearing up for you.

I think I'm going to stick with oral B12 for awhile and see how that effects my symptoms and labs.

Since starting oral Methyl B-12, I have noticed less arm and finger twitching but a NEW symptom, now my right outside ankle buzzes, electric sensation or like something is slightly poking me there, then it goes away and comes back when it feels like it. I cannot duplicate this sensation on my own other then placing my right ankle onto my left knee. All other times it happens in whatever position I'm in. Not sure if any of this is related to B-12 but I have more energy taking it.

Hope so Cat. I first tried the cyano type found in my local drugstore, but learned that the methyl type is more bioavailable. Been on the methyl for 4 days 5000 micrograms a day, right around the time of the "ankle issue"...
