How many people do you know who have Lyme?

I'm just curious.... 

Besides those on this wonderful board, how many people do each of you know personally ---friends, family or aquaintances--- who have Lyme or related TBI's?

As of today, I know 14 people-- 15 including myself--  who had or currently have Lyme.  As a comparison, I know 1 person with HIV.... 2 with breast cancer (in remission).... 1 with epilepsy.... and 2 with diabetes.

Also...Sam Stosur who is now ranked #6 in the world of tennis, got Lyme disease in 2007.   She beat it and is playing better than ever!

Just read this article published last week. Apparently she isn't feeling to well again. I doubt it's lyme though. I know no one with Lyme.

So I guess it's just me which sucks. Sometimes I want to cut the planet in half, if I could.

i know 9 people with Lyme. but one died last year... so 8.

Well now, that's a tough question, I know people who had Lyme at one time, and were treated, now, are they still people with Lyme? I guess they would be if what I read is true. Then there are people who have chronic Lyme, I don't know anyone who has that except me so, I know 2 people who have had Lyme and 1 (me) who's had chronic Lyme

I only know 1 other person that was ever diagnosed with lymes disease, my son. He woke up in 1987 unable to walk and lymes was the finally diagnoses. He recevied the inpatient rocephen treatement and was left with a disease called spondyloarthropathies. He had a spinal which showed to effect to the CNS nor brain. I do hear of alot of people that receive treatment after finding a tick on them, but not one that had a confirmed case.

I know a few but they all don't have it so severe. They had the rash and got doxy where it was not a big deal. Fixed within a month and not a huge ordeal.

When I lived in Connecticut, I was heavily involved in a Lyme support group. I easily had over 30 friends with Lyme and was acquainted with at least 40 others. Most of these people were chronic. Anyone that got it but was quickly cured tended to not need a support group.

Whenever we had a speaker well known in the Lyme community, we'd have over 100 people at our meetings.
