New Study- UC Davis - Lyme hides in the Lymph glands!

I had this sent to me this afternoon. This is incredible news!! Here is a small tidbit from the article:

"....They found that when mice were infected with B. burgdorferi, these live spirochetes accumulated in the animals’ lymph nodes. The lymph nodes responded with a strong, rapid accumulation of B cells, white blood cells that produce antibodies to fight infections. Also, the presence of B. burgdorferi caused the destruction of the distinct architecture of the lymph node that usually helps it to function normally.

While B cells accumulated in large numbers and made some specific antibodies against B. burgdorferi, they did not form “germinal centers,” structures that are needed for the generation of highly functional and long-lived antibody responses...."

This study is so interesting to me. When I had my rash last summer, I went to an internist (not a LLMD). He said that he'd never seen a rash that looked like mine before and he wanted to show a picture of my rash to a dermatologist on staff. He called me later and told me that he and the dermatologist both thought I'd been bitten by something (he didn't say what), infected with bacteria and the bacteria had traveled up a chain of lymph nodes located in my torso. I asked him why I had pain near the rash and he said that the bacteria had injured my lymph nodes and that they would take time to heal. He told me not to be concerned, that whatever bacteria I was infected with was nothing to be worried about and my symptoms would go away on their own. I still have pain in this area almost a year later.

my right lymph node on my neck is extremely painful. My lyme symptoms have mostly disappeared but this constant throbbing, pain on my neck is driving me insane. Even vicodin doesn't take away the pain. Advil, tylenol, aleve, all make it swell up more rather than reducing the swelling.

I don't know what else to do anymore besides take more painkillers...so thats what I am going to do.

I agree with Achievinggrace, All seeing! I just got back from seeing my acupuncture doc and she did a Lymphatic massage on me today. The first time or two stirred up my symptoms, but now it actually relieves a lot of discomfort!
The pain killers didn't touch my pain either.

I'm really sorry that I don't remember, but have you seen any alternative medicine doctors? I have the belief that once a person has a long-standing chronic TBI, the abx route is not always the best route. It is very harsh on an already struggling system.

Now I do know that there is a whole lot of people that will experience healing with abx. - I'm not discounting them or trying to put them down. I just believe that there are those of us that need a more Holistic type of medicine.

There are several popular herbal protocols that have healed those with TBI's, although my Acupuncture Doc & I decided that a different one would be best for me. I have been experiencing some pretty surprising improvements in my health after only 10 weeks.

I would encourage you to hang in there and keep searching for the right treatment that will work for you!! It's out there!!

I would recommend Red Root herb in tincture form for relief of pain in lymph nodes, especially in the throat. I get chronic throat infections especially on the left side (in what I assume is the left lymph node in my throat) and Red Root is the only thing that knocks it out. Here is the link:

This product has been a lifesaver for me. I put about 1-2 dropperfuls (an herbalist recommended about 1/2 - 1 teaspoon) in hot water, & then wait for it to cool a bit. Then I gargle with it, swallowing it each time. I do this 3-4 times a day, and doing it several times a day seems necessary.

I had tonsilitis a few years ago and no antibiotic could get rid of it. The Red Root is the only thing that worked. There are other lymph tonics out there, but this is the one that really helps me.
